I used it because it was there at the credit union, and my stepmom had a good experience, and I was satisfied with it as well. I bought a new '99 Honda through Autoland and here's how it went...
I called up the guy and told him what I wanted, listing make, model, color, and that I wanted a manual transmission. He said cool, I'll work on it, come in tomorrow at one and we'll deal with the financial stuff.
The next day he had found my car for me, exactly what I wanted, with the accessories I wanted, right color, everything. It was at a dealership in Riverside, and he had them drive it down here for me in San Diego. All I had to do was have the insurance ready by the time they got here, and have all my loan paperwork completed, and I could drive it home. The trouble with this is there was no test-drive, and no negotiation: the price was the sticker price, period. This may be a con for anyone else, but I myself wasn't up for negotiation, and I didn't care for a test drive, I just wanted the car. I think my stepmom's car was from a dealer in LA, and she drove up there to look at it before she actually purchased it, as it was a used auto, and that's an option you may choose. But Autoland found it for her, using the stats she gave them. They do all this in a matter of 3 or 4 days. I called the Autoland guy on a Thursday, spent the weekend gathering the insurance and loan stuff, and Monday I took the car home.
I was most pleased with the fact it went so smoothly: I gave them the $, they gave me precisely the car I wanted. All the registration details and extra whatnots were taken care of while I was sitting at the desk with the Autoland guy, I never once met the dealer or had any type of contact at all with the Honda people. Maybe that's not your style, you may want to look the dealer in the eyes and shrewdly weasel a car out of him at a reduced price, or see if you can score some extra accessories...but I did what was best for me, I believe, and that's my story.
