A Tale of the WORST Auto Body ShopDec 31 '00 Write an essay on this topic. My tale begins with my friend telling me she would love to buy my Lexus ES 300 whenever I was ready to sell it. Finally I was ready to upgrade to the Lexus SC400 and I called her. She was thrilled to buy my old car and we worked out the numbers and everyone was happy. The day she was to pick up the car just hours later the air conditioner died in it (we live in AZ....NOT a good thing to have no air). She decided to take the car to our local Jiffy Lube to have it repaired and I offered to split the cost with her. She takes the car there and they tell her it's not a big deal...it was just low on freon...they fill it up and she's on her way. Two weeks later she has no air!!! She goes back to Jiffy Lube and they tell her something else is broken and it will cost approximately $500 to fix. Fine....we agree to have it fixed and we split the cost.... Two weeks later she has no air!!! She goes back to Jiffy Lube and they tell her something else is broken and it will cost approximately $500 to fix it. We check with some other local auto repair guys who say the ONLY way this second thing could be broken is if the first broken thing was installed improperly. Of course Jiffy Lube denies this and we have it fixed. Two weeks later she has no air!!!! We go back to Jiffy Lube and they now tell us they can't figure out what the problem is. We take it to the local Lexus dealer who doesn't want to touch it because Jiffy Lube has messed it up so badly. We find another local repair shop who specializes in foreign cars and he says he thinks he can repair what Jiffy Lube has screwed up. After MANY MANY phone calls to Jiffy Lube they agree to reimburse the new guy for whatever it might cost to fix the air conditioning... The new guy has no problem repairing it.....and Jiffy Lube to this date still has not paid him..... Two rules to be learned here... 1. Never sell a car to a friend 2. NEVER go to Jiffy Lube |
