your auto ins. may stick it to the stick shift!Feb 17, 2000 Write an essay on this topic. Most of my automobiles have been stick shifts,I took my driver's test in a stick shift(and passed!!). I happened to take to it like a fish to water but I have found the automatics I have driven to be more convenient in many ways, especially when it involves a hot cup of coffee!!! ouch!! I learned something new about the value of the stick shift when I rolled my car over last winter, due to icy road conditions. I learned that your insurance company is very likely to "stick it" to you if your vehicle is a stick shift. My car was damaged beyond repair and when it came time for my insurance company(whom I paid for years without a claim)to pay me for the value of my car I was penalized $300.00 for having a stick shift!!!! I was told very clearly that although a stick shift is better on gas it is worth less than an automatic so when they paid up they deducted $300.00 right off the top! You may want to ask your insurance company about this prior to buying your next stick shift and it may sway your decision to the automatic. Personally, stick or not isn't really all that important to me as long as it starts when I want it to,has a good heater and a decent radio!!! I know....you men out there are saying...."I knew it was a woman"!! |
