After getting over 250$ worth of speed tickets, I decided that this is it. If I can buy a legal machine that will tell me when I have to slow down so that the cop won't catch me driving over the limit, why shouldn't I?

I decided to go for the BEL radar detector, which I know some of my friends use, and that I thought I can rely on.
I decided that I'll spend enough money to buy myself a good and reliable detector, and I did spend 200$ on this one (which is more than what I usually spend on things like that). I bought it at retail price, because I wanted a new machine, and not a used one from E-Bay.

The day I got my detector, I installed it in my car (easy and comfortable installation). I started driving at 10pm towards the nearest supermarket, and on the first stop light, my detector started beeping and ringing like I was in the middle of a police station… I checked all the sides, and there was no car even close to me. Well, I thought, maybe this is only a one time mistake… And no it wasn't… It kept ringing every stop light I came near to.

Well? I assumed that maybe my radar detector just isn't a city kind of machine.
A week after, I was driving down the highway listening to the radio, (driving over the limit of course), when suddenly I hear a cop siren. I was so happy when I thought about the guy that was caught over the limit, that wasn't me! My happiness ended after looking at the mirror and looking at the cop signing me to pull over… After getting another parking ticket, I checked what was wrong with my detector, and my batteries were empty! I bought it a week ago and the batteries are already gone!

I stopped in the nearest gas station and bought myself some new batteries to prevent further coincidences. Half an hour later, when driving on the highway again, I saw a police car waiting for a victim. I was surprised that my detector didn't work, but 2 seconds later, it started screaming and ringing, together with the police siren (and they didn't sound too good together…).

I decided that this is it, and I don't want this primitive and non-useful machine any more. I drove back to the store (with the detector beeping with every bird over my car of course) and returned it for a full refund. At least I got some of my parking tickets value back.

This machine didn't do what I expected from it, and it annoyed me on the same time.
For the 200$ I spent I would expect much more.
I wouldn't buy this radar detector if I were you.
