Leaning more towards the SUV

Driving on the roads these days are a whole ton of cars/trucks/ and SUVs. Where I live, at the Grand Canyon, every other car is a rental, and there are a lot of people that come to the Grand Canyon, most of them don't know how to drive at all.

Today I was driving around and in a parking lot there were a ton of SUVs and mini vans. Almost every maufacture are making at least one style of SUV. When choosing between a SUV or a car, I think I would go with a SUV.

There are many different types of SUV's out there. Comparing to cars, there are some SUV's that do everything just as good or better than cars. Blazers and other SUV's with six cylinder engines get just as good of gas milage as cars with the same size engines. Most SUV's are used as cars anyway, and they have those extra capabilities if wanted. They have higher ground clearance and four wheel drive, just in case you want to go camping out in the woods on a weekend. Then there is big SUV's like the Suburbans and the Excersions, that can seat 10-12 people and if you have a big boat and a big family, these HUGE SUV's are the way to go.

From a personal note, my family has a Ford Contour with a 6 cylinder engine. This car seats one and a half comfortably and it gets 25 miles per gallon. A friend has a Chevy Blazer that has a 6 cylinder engine and it seats 5 comfortably. The Blazer gets 28 miles per gallon.

If you are a city only person, then maybe a car is the way to go. But if you have a family of 4 or more and want to get away for a weekend, then a SUV is the way to go. The larger SUV's can be a pain in the gas, espicailly with these gas prices going up and up. The smaller SUV's are fuel efficent and roomy. In my opinion, SUV's are a lot better than cars in every category.
