Avoid the REPO man!!Aug 19 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Being in the Repossession business, I see a lot of folks get in over their heads on some car they really did not need in the first place. Try to get a car you know you can afford, before you go to the dealership with stars in your eyes and spider webs in your wallet keep these tips in mind. 1) Know your spending habits. Meaning if you only make $1000 a month don't purchase a car that will make your bill paying to tight or non-existent. 2) Read the fine print. Always get a completed copy of ALL paperwork with all needed signatures, "Never fill out undone paperwork" 3) Stay with the times, this does not mean get the fastest and most expensive car out there, but what it does mean is, get a car that does not require a lot of down time. 4) Watch your insurance. All financed vehicles must have your states legal liability insurance. Believe it or not I repo cars for no insurance, more than behind on payments. 5) Inspect your car. Before you sign your life away, check everything on your purchase. Have your personal mechanic look at the car before you buy. 6) Don't be intimidated. Just because you might be a woman, never let the salesman have the upper hand, because if you do you will not like the car down the line, or paid too much on something "They" talked you into. 7) Shop around. Never settle for their first offer, and be sure to watch the APR (Annual Percentage rate) this is the interest rate you agree to purchase this vehicle at. These are some basic tips to help you stay out of REPO and on the road. I repossess thousands of cars yearly and hear "If I only knew what I was getting into" |
