Just LearnedJun 13 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I just learned how to drive standard a few months ago, but I still like automatic better. It may be because I like to relax when I'm driving. I don't want to be bothered with shifting and worrying about whether or not I'm going to stall at the next stop sign! My biggest fear about standard used to be that I would stall on a hill and not be able to get the car going again without rolling into the person behind me. As I got more comfortable with it, the fear subsided and now I just think of driving standard as a pain. In an automatic car all you have to do is put the car in drive, and go, so it is so much easier. I know people that absolutely hate automatic cars and the only cars they will drive are standard because they say that automatic is boring and if they drive standard they can make the car go faster. Speed is not that much of an important factor to me because I usually drive on the back roads. When you have to keep stopping and starting off again it can be really annoying and frustrating. Maybe one day I'll get tired of driving automatic, but for now it's much more convenient for me.  |
