I bought Ford vehicles for the last twenty years. So, staying with tradition I bought the Ford Explorer "Eddie Bauer" package. I tried others SUV's but to no compare.
The interior of the Explorer is of soft plush leather that provides extreme comfort when traveling.
The interior electronics tend to spoil the passengers. The six tape CD player offers the driver a mixture of music for the long haul without the hassles of changing tapes while driving. The telephone is built into to the system and offers the convieance of have a cellular that is available 24 hours without having to charge. The combination of cassette,CD, and radio provide the passengers with unlimited musical options. The exterior lights come on automatically with out a touch.
The large spacious interior allows for a comfortable ride for all. The rear compartment can be converted to provide a large storage compartment.
The pick-up is the best part of the package. I travel a lot and at times have to enter interstates. The quick pick up of the Explorer enables me to confidently drive in any traffic.
The Explorer suffers from the same electronic system failures as other Ford models. The Check engine light comes on and continues to stay illuminated even when there is no problems. The sensor device of the control system has failed with just 36,000 miles.
Another problem is the gas mileage of the Explorer. The mileage varies with weather and road conditions, but is poor when compared to similar vehicles.
The Ford explorer with its little problems still provides a safe, comfortable, and roomy ride.
