Pros: Reliability, safety, comfort, performance - just about everything. Cons: No cup holders, part and service expensive.
I bought my first (but definitely not last) BMW about a year ago. It is a 1992 BMW 325i and, WOW, what a car! My interest in BMW began with a coworker's 1986 325. I saw his car in the parking lot at work for several months and just thought that it was...

Pros: It really is The Ultimate Driving Machine Cons: Insurance cost.
My 325i now has 129,000 miles on it and it still runs like a champ. I bought the car about three and a half years ago, and at the time it had about 55,000 miles on it. It has been a great car, and I have no plans to let it go.
1992 was the...

Pros: Great handling for a 4 door sedan, powerful motor, and attractive styling. Cons: Expensive to repair and maintain and gas mileage. The Bottom Line: This car is great for someone who needs 4 doors and wants the feel of a sports car, but keep in mind it is expensive to maintain.
I bought my 1992 BMW 325i (e36) about a year ago. The car had about 100,000 miles when I bought it. I purchased the car for $9,000. The car had been well maintained, but had a few problems that come with a 100,000 mile car. The car had a blown oil...

I owned BMW motorcycles and cherished the power, design and handling. It was a goal to buy a BMW car after an overall positive experience with my 1992 R100GS motorcycle. So I set out to my local Dealer.I was reedy to dive into the the Ultimate Driving...

Pros: Great, sexy-looking ride, valets won't laugh when you pull up. Cons: Valets might laugh once they get behind the wheel. Read on to see why... The Bottom Line: Buy a 92-98 "3" if you don't mind quirks. You'll get a lot for your money, and it'll run forever. If you prefer predictability, take a pass.
UPDATE: I wrote the review below over two years ago. Still driving the car, still fixing things every few months. To be expected, I suppose...230,000 miles on the odometer. I have a slow coolant leak, and must refill the reservoir every couple months. ...

Pros: dummy proof Cons: expensive
We purchased this car by mistake. We had purchased a new foreign vehicle and needless to say it was a lemon. The dealer was eager to appease us so he gave us a great deal on the BMW 325i. This car is wonderful. We have owned the car for 7 months and...

Pros: nice looking Cons: unreliable! The Bottom Line: This car gave me too many problems
When I got this car, I was excited to have a BMW because I thought that it would be a fun car with a smooth ride. The first few months were great, but then everything changed. This car is unreliable! Evrything began to fall apart - from the seat belts...

Pros: HP in peak RPM range, handling and cornering ability, timeless look Cons: interior material quality, US spec. headlights (replace with glass units), repair costs, "rich snob" stigma The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to someone who looks for precision and near perfection in a car's driving experience. This car is an extension of its driver.
Telling someone you own a BMW immediately makes them think you are stuck up or have some superiority complex. That is very unfortunate, but I say let them think what they want. If they had a BMW maybe they would think otherwise. The 1992 E36 can be ...
