Pros: good gas mileage, sits up high, good turning radius, roomy bed Cons: no power, 4.0L ford is nothing compared to 4.3L chevy, bouncy suspension, JERKY transmission
This truck has been good for driving to work and back everyday. It seldom has any problems. The 4.0L Ford engine is pretty solid but lacks power for those who need it. It gets great gas mileage. The controls inside are hard to reach. The speedometer...

A lot of bang for the buck
by clreichle ,Sep 05 '06
Pros: Very reliable, great gas mileage, great off road! Cons: Limited storage in a regular cab.
I bought it from the original owner with 120,XXX miles on it and has been one of the best decisions I've made. It turns sharp, gets 23 miles a gallon on the hwy, and pull a 12' trailer loaded down great. The 5spd is fun to drive and the 4wd does great off road. I've even pulled a silverado out of a corn field twice. To this day I still haven't gotten it stuck, which is impressive in wet and soggy Missouri fields. Some say the 4.0L doesn't have much power, but I disagree. A 2001 dakota with a 3.9L magnum couldn't keep up with me. Other than regular maintenance, I haven't had to replace anything, except for an alternator. If I buy another truck, it will be another B4000.

This Truck ROCKS!
by jacquesahs ,Nov 30 '04
Pros: DURABLE! DEPENDABLE! Powerful engine and a good sized cab. Cons: Mileage, 10 year old design, 8 year old nacho chip crumbs under seat.
I wish my colon was as dependable as this truck! I have over 100,000 miles on it and it is still powerful and dependable. Have only had to replace the timing belt and thermostat, buy two sets of tires (one set died early- my fault) and recently had rear brakes replaced. Mileage isn't that great but with the damn traffic around here, who would notice anyway? Only "problems" have been a burned out bulb in the dash (at about 90k miles), a klunky transmission (which doesn't impress the chicks) and a burned out tape deck - which tends to happen when a 3 year old puts a wad of gum in and tries to fast forward it.
I would absolutely buy this truck again and will be sad when it drives its last mile - not suicidal sad, but sad enough to play Air Supply tapes for a week.
