Pros: All Pros Cons: No Cons
Summary: I purchased my 1996 Chevrolet Lumina brand new. The sticker price was around $18,000, but with the rebate and GM discount I paid approximately $13,000 for the car. When I went out car shopping I didn’t have a Chevy Lumina in mind, but after looking ... read more

Pros: Overall roominess. Cons: Front brake squeal.
Summary: I bought my 1996 Lumina LS used as a 2nd car for my 1987 Chevrolet Caprice. I was looking for something inexpensive and dependable. I searched for a Lumina because my brother owed a 1999 Lumina LS that he adored until the transmission failed (too ... read more

Summary: Alas, my parents decided to buy a "family car" after I got married. Their choice was a Maroon on Gray 1996 Lumina LS. Of course I was the one who sold them the car when I was a salesman at a dealership. I believe they were pleased with the vehicle. ... read more

Pros: A comfortable vehicle with more than adequate acceleration. A good looking car. Cons: Generally reliable, however, have had to replace alternator and fuel pump,
Summary: I purchased my Lumina after my Dodge Shadow was totaled. Compared to the Shadow, I feel like I'm driving a luxury vehicle. I find that the Lumina handles well, and compared to the four cylinder in my Shadow, accelerates with vigor. My Lumina has the ... read more

Pros: Attractive classic styling, smooth ride, comfortable interior, lots of features at a good price. Cons: No longer produced by Chevrolet, rose interior fades easily.
Summary: I purchased our 1996 Chevrolet Lumina LS used from a friend. We began to enjoy the car from day one! The car does indeed look like your typical family car, but smooth lines and alloy wheels give it a touch of sportiness. The seats are firm, but ... read more

Pros: Nice style. Has power when you need it. Cons: Front wheel drive.
Summary: The Cheverolet Lumina is a great passenger car that I would recommend to any driver. The style is one of a kind and very aerodynamic. It looks and acts like a sleek sports car, but looks like a family car. When you need to, this car can put out a lot ... read more

Summary: OK - so sue me - I traded in my gas-sipping Toyota on a luminescent maroon 1996 Chevy Lumina.
A happy-go-lucky bachelor for a few years, I enjoyed tooling around in my small economical 4-cylinder Toyota.
Then it happened - "SHE" ... read more

Pros: Good power, comfort, style. Cons: More fragile than previous Lumina's.
Summary: I have two Lumina's. 96 and 91, my favorite is the 1991 because I can abuse it (its a tank, the 1996 is a little more dinky; but of course its not made for it), but it terms of power and style the 1996 is better.
The ride is very quiet and ... read more
