Pros: Gas mileage, German build quality, peppy engine, good looks for price. Cons: Premium fuel, maintenance/repair costs
If you're looking for an affordable used BMW, the 318ti is a good choice. Of course, it's not the cream of the crop in BMW's suite of offerings, (i.e., 5-Series and 7-Series models), but for the price, you get a car that commands respect when seen by ...
Pros: Great looks, handling, and speed Cons: 1.8 liter whines a bit at freeway speed
On the 13th of November 1999 I had an idea. I needed to get myself some sort of transportation because it was beginning to rain out here in 'Sunny' California.
Motorcycles don't really like the rain, and I plan on keeping my bike for a while,...
Pros: Excellent small car, great brakes and handling Cons: Not much under the hood
Ok, so you probably can't get one of these guys new, but they're floating around used, even some dealer demos are left. It was my entry car into the world of nicer import automobiles. For 23k I got a '98 dealer demo 318ti with the sports package, nifty...
Pros: Nice looking, cool gadgets inside, decent gas mileage Cons: Expensive maintenance, battery had to be replaced twice, low horsepower
We bought one of the first 318ti's (1995 model year) in 1996. We were pleased with the process involved with buying the car. The BMW dealer wasn't pushy at all, unlike the other dealers in Vegas we have dealt with like Toyota and Chevy.
Pros: Top notch car! Cons: Little pricey for maintenance
I first bought my 318ti 1995. From the first moment I stepped on the BMW lot, I was impressed. The BMW dealer was so friendly that I had to check and see if I was really talking to a dealer or not.
i bought a bmw 318i...one thing bmw has always been a trusted brand in the family...the reason why my father is alive today is because of a bmw...his car(BMW 520 92') flipped a couple of times and my dad wasnt even scratched..he just walked (well...
Man I tell you what, this car is sweet. I don't even care if it is 9 years old, the body is still straight. The seats can twist and contort into all sorts of cool positions. Everyone from myself (5'7") to my large friends (6'3"-6'6") can...
I just purchased this car a couple of weeks ago. I am overly satisfied. This car is sleek, rugged, and luxurious. Driving this car with a stick shift is like playing a video game. It's just so much fun. Every morning when i go to work I am anxious...
The BMW 318 series is truely a work of art. It is the ultimate driving machine and gives optimal performance. It is what everyone would dream of having in a car at an affordable price. Available in a variety of colors ( silver, black, red, blue, white,...
Pros: Body Design, Interior Cons: likelihood of theft
BMW has a true hit with the 318 Series. Newly redesigned, it upholds the proud BMW tradition of combining elegance with power. It's strong engine takes the road like almost no other car, providing its driver with smooth, quiet acceleration, seemingly...
Pros: Everything Cons: Not many people know how to properly work on a BMW.
I currently own a 1991 BMW 318is, and I have put 145,000 miles on it. There have been no problems with the car. The only service I have had to perform is the routine maintenence that need be done (brakes, tires, oil changes, service inspections, etc.)...
Pros: good handling, roomy, fun to drive Cons: a little pricey, bmw stereotype
After trashing my old Honda Civic for 10 years, I decided
to get another hatchback to replace my old one. I kinda
stumbled on the BMW 318ti by accident, after having looked
at Honda, Acura, VW golf, etc. This is an amazing car.
It...
Pros: very affordable for a BMW Cons: rear seats cramped
This is the greatest car I have ever driven. It surpasses most other BMW's in its driving capabilities and pricetag. I leased this car for a year and was very pleased. Its interior is like that of a lugury sudan unless you sit in the back seat which is...
Pros: Quite ride thats alot of fun Cons: theres no such thing as a con on this car
I can't say much about this car (because I don't have one) but when my friend (Steve) bought a bmw 318i I had to go for a run in it, BMW has always been a favoured brand with every one I know, this car responds extremely well, excellent handling, I have...
Pros: style, efficiency, handling Cons: cup holders
The good news:
6 1/2 years old, the car still runs great, looks great and handles great. The interior held up well and, with age, BMW's seem to season and build Character. I get good gas mileage (usually ~29mpg) and repairs have been rare....
I may a little biased in my opinions of these cars, but I think it is well founded. I purchased my car used and have since put over 60,000 miles on it! I have only had one major problem with the car. It was a bad head gasket. It cost me a about $700...
Pros: great handling, chick magnet Cons: performance
I guess my family has some kind of hankering towards BMW cars, so for my graduation present guess what I bought???? a green BMW 318Ti. We were so lucky to fall into this deal. It was a 1998 loaner car with only 9,000 miles on it. It wasn't even...
Pros: Great car, at a low price Cons: a little small
Let me tell you, the beemer is sporty, powerful, and an all around fun car. The 318 is a classic example of all of the quality vehicles made by BMW, It has everything, nothing's missing, and I would prefer a beemer any day over a Mercedes or a Jaguar....
I'm not too appealed by the BMW three series. I've driven a 740, 750i, and a 540, and even though this is the least expensive of the class, I really don't see what's the point in having it. Luxury is allright, however it's roomy and cramped in the back....
Pros: Fast Cons: Lousy steering wheel, fragile clutch
This car is nice and fast. It handles moderately well (not nearly as well as a 328, for instance, but much better than my '96 Saturn!) It's pretty good for tall people (I'm 6 ft). I'd recommend the comfort seats as the sport seats are a little stressful...
Pros: Great Big engine when you lift up the hood, you can drive for about 3 years 100,000 miles before your first tuneup!! Cons: trying to keep the 5/7 series rim's clean!!
I have just recently bought a BMW 540i . It is a luxurious car with everything fully loaded into it.
Let me start of by telling you about the 3 series: Its around 25 to 35 thousand dollars. Is it actually worth all that money? Not if you...
The BMW 318 Series has a nice front. I bought the car because the vehicle is quite sporty, yet with all of the glamour and strength the car has to offer to a driver, the price range is loyal too! The car runs swiftly and the rate of gas intake is...
Pros: Great Looks, Handling, ride, and reasonable performance from our 98 318iA Cons: The 'check engine' light is on all the time it seems.
Darn it! I love this car BUT it is costing an arm and leg to keep it on the road. In less than ONE YEAR we had to replace the following: Right door lock actuator, Left door lock actuator, windshield wiper control arm, post converter O2 sensor, cam shaft...
How many things in life are sporty, powerful, pleasing to the 5 senses, and can hold 5 people? The 318 is a classic example of all of the quality vehicles made by BMW..all the refinements are there, nothing's missing, and I woulf prefer a Beemer any day...
The BMW is a great car. I love how it handles and the how they look. I dont know one person who doesn't like BMW. This model of the BMW 318 series is a wonderful car. It luxurious and still affordable. I have found this car to be my favorite car of...
Pros: great sound system and nice ride Cons: not always the safest thing to be in
Hi my name is ashley and im only 18 years old and i dont know much about the BMW's except for the fact that they are really nice cars and i love the way they look. I always thought that the nice luxury cars like BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and those kind of...
After an exhaustive search including Chrysler 600M, Lexus, and Mercedes we selected a certified pre-owned BMW 318si. Not only was the price competitive but the warranty and service provided by the dealership were unbeatable. During the test drive I was...
Pros: not too expensive. has most standard BMW features Cons: bottom line quality finishes, low class engine
IF you are looking for a the worst BMW car that exists. then choose the 318i. the world was shocked to see how low down quality BMW went this time. it is in the same range as the civic. if you are going to buy a sports car, buy a real sports car. if not...
This car not only get great mileage, but it looks stylish too. I have personally taken one out on the German Highway (I go to Germany every Summer) and let me tell you, it hauls around. BMW's are know for great handling. Why do you think that BMW's...
Pros: Dependable, good looking, reputation, design, speed, control, handling Cons: Purchase cost, short warranty, costly service
You say state facts, one fact is that I love my 1992 318i. I bought "Betty" because of BMW's reputation, driving performance, and sleek classic looks. The car has run well for 7 years, although there have been problems. The muffler cracked,...
Pros: Road handling, fuel economy, ride, reliability, "fun" factor, factory sound system (Alpine), parking ease! Cons: This car could use a sixth gear. In 5th gear, RPMs are too high.
If you have a chance to buy a nice used BMW 318ti, DO IT!
I've had a 318ti for 4 years and I LOVE it!
I own a '96 (1.9 liter), but there is NO difference between the '96 and a '98 model. I find the 5 speed preferable to the automatic, as you lose some of the "fun" factor if you aren't shifting it yourself.
The manual transmission is a Getrag 5 speed and definitely makes a performance difference.
In terms of reliability and economy, well, the fuel economy is great! I average 24 to 28 mpg, combined, and on a good road trip I get as much as 34 mpg!!
I have spent less than $1,500 on repairs for this car in 3 years, including a brake job and window regulator!
I bought the car to relieve some of the pain of a monster commute, and in that regard, I succeeded profoundly!
This is the second best car I've ever owned.
My best car was another BMW back in the 70's!
I now have 100,000 miles on my ti, and expect to get another 100,000 out of it.
Pros: Fun to drive, nimble, reliable, practical, solidly built, low maintenance. Cons: Would have been even better with a bigger engine.
My 318ti is a workhorse. I've had it since 1995 and it has about 220,000 miles. Body is rock solid, the car doesn't creak a bit, engine is still responsive, the hatchback has been extremely practical (luggage, furniture, mountain bikes, plywood, ski gear, golf clubs, you name it) and it feels as new as the day I bought it. (My last car, a Honda Civic Si, was a great car, but at 200,000 miles, I was fortunate that I didn't fall through the floor. The car was totally rusted.) I also have a 330ci which is also very nice and fast, but the 318ti is more fun and nimble. Driving through winding roads is a blast. I hope my 318ti will last a long, long time.
