| The 1998 Suburban is available in four models- C1500, C2500, K1500, K2500. Three trim levels are available- Base, LS and LT. New for 1998, all Suburbans come standard with Passlock theft deterrent system that prevents anyone from starting the vehicle unless they use the proper key. The OnStar communication system is a new dealer installed option. OnStar uses Global Positioning System satellite technology and a cellular phone link to provide services such as travel directions and roadside assistance. Suburban 4WD models are available with a new optional on-demand 4WD system called AutoTrac. AutoTrac engages 4WD when extra traction is needed, and when the additional traction is no longer needed the system reverts back to 2WD. |
