Pros: Acceleration, Quiet, Good buy Cons: Heavy Doors, Back Seat is a little cramped.
General Motors’ Monte Carlo is one of the best – selling vehicles in the Chevrolet family. This model was once a very large, family- style vehicle. It was terminated in the 1980’s, but then GM decided to revive the Monte Carlo in 1995. However, the only...

Pros: great acceleration, roomy for a coupe, makes the ladies go wild Cons: heavy doors, one cupholder, all the girls constantly wanting to go out with you
I am an 18 year old college student who recently purchased a black '98 Monte Carlo Z34. I fell in love with it the first time I laid eyes on it. The Z34 has a much more sporty look to it than the regular Monte's, but it isn't so sporty that you need to...

Pros: Stylish, very, very ample space in seating and trunk space Cons: None, really
I have been blessed, as previously mentioned in an earlier review, to have owned two Monte Carlo Z34's in the past few years.
I had trouble with the 1996 Monte Carlo, filed a Lemon Law Case on it, and was at first, forced into purchasing...

Pros: smooth/comfortable/quiet Cons: not many color options
I had my eye on the Monte Carlo for a few years before I gave in and bought one! I purchased the 1998, in 1998 it had 30 miles on it! The only draw back, is that it is red, and there are a million red Monte Carlo's on the road. At first it was...

Pros: Dependability Cons: none
I am a mechanic and I bought this vehicle for the reliability and ease of working on it. The Monte Carlo is one of the most dependable vehicles on the market. getting this vehicle fixed is a piece of cake and the replacement parts are very reasonable....

Pros: Stlying, acceleration, interior room. Cons: Rear view, front wheels break loose on hard accelerations.
The 1998 Monte Carlo takes a lot of slack from purists. From the reviews I've read, and enthusiasts I've heard this new vision of the muscle car lacks the performance of it's forefathers, and is nothing like it's Nascar counterpart. For the enthusiasts...

Pros: Roomy yet Sporty Cons: Gas mileage
My husband and I recently bought a 98 Monte Carlo. to tell the truth I always hated Monte Carlos, I thought they were to long to be sporty. Now I know i was wrong.
The newer Monte Carlos are not the tanks of yesteryear. The look...

Pros: roomie, big doors, great gas mileage Cons: fulr tank to samll
I had been considering purchasing a Lumina, i had rented one and it drove well and i got great gas mileage. It had one draw back for me, as a big guy (6'3" 280lbs) it was a tight fit getting in the car. While at the dealership i saw the Monte...

Pros: quality, power, gas mileage Cons: cramped rear, bumper paint.
I was looking for a four door family car when I ran across
a '98 Monte Carlo LS with under 10k miles with a very reason-
able price and tested it, and was impressed with the ride and
handling, however, I was most impressed with the power...

Pros: Acceleration, Quiet ride, comfortable interior, sleek looks Cons: Bad Gas Mileage and boring handling
I bought a Monte Carlo Z34 which now is the SS. Same car though so listen up. This is as good as it gets for this price level. It accelerates very quickly, rides smoothly and quietly and has plenty of room inside. I got all the options because I...

Pros: very extreme luxury and performance at a low price Cons: this car has no cons
I highly recommend getting one of these cars, I got my 98 LS back in February of 02 and I have never been happier with a car before in my life! Kudos to Chevrolet on these fine cars. I love mine! The car came with pw, cruise, cd, daytime running lights,...

Pros: Dependable, Powerful, Lots of room, Great driving experience, sharp looking. Cons: Turning radius, Tires and Brakes seem to wear quickly.
I've had my 98 Monte Z34 since the beginning. It has all or most of the available options. I'm now considering a new car but can't part with this baby easily. I've changed the oil and did most of the scheduled maintenance on time but this car has NOT ...

Pros: Fast, looks cool, roomy/comfy, it's a Chevy, chick magnet. Cons: Only one cup holder, your constantly fighting off babes.
I have owned my Monte Carlo Z34 for only a few months now, it has 70k miles, and since its Z34, it has the 3.8L V6. The 3.8 has been a very trusty engine from Chevy and is known to run forever, that's partially why I bought this car, the only problem I ...

125,000 miles,GM's "GEM"
by john_in_nc ,Apr 02 '05
Pros: Comfort, reliability, aerodynamics Cons: Blown away by the new Monte Carlos!
I purchased my 98 Monte from Hertz car sales. I purchased it for a song, 10,500 and got a 70,000 mi warranty for another $700. The car has been great. Looks good and was very reliable. At the suggestion of the dealer when I bought it I always used the emergency brake to keep pressure off the park pin. This is something we all should do but many neglect.
In the 125k miles I had the car I had only to change an alternator (probably killed it from my ham radio) and then a water pump which was a 15 minute job that I did myself. Yes, I did not need the warranty but is okay as piece of mind is worth a few hundred to me.
I recently purchased a 2005 Monte SS. The SS drives very similar to my 98 but has better visibility, more acceleration, more bells and whistles and even more comfort, something that I could not believe possible.
Maybe it is the plant they build them in, maybe it is the design engineer I don't know but the Monte Carlos are GM's Gem!

Lumina Coupe? NO!
by movershaker01 ,Nov 12 '03
Pros: Turns heads, classy looking, nice acceleration, nice leather. Cons: 3.1 is iffy on high miles, also watch your speed; it gets away from you!
This was my first 'nice' car. I purchased a 1998 Chev Monte Carlo LS, loaded with all but sunroof. All in all I'd say an excellent car. Nice acceleration. I never lost a race with anyone, and I had the LS with the 3.1 not the Z34 with the 3.8 . It had a nicely laid out interior, and the exterior styling to match. The only thing that bothered me was the length of the car made it fun to parallel park. It was a heavy car, plowing through snow like nothing(I live in Minnesota). Repairs: I replaced the factory battery (no big deal) and the inner and outer tie rods on both front wheels @ a cost of $200 a pop. The only reason I traded it was because the mileage was getting up there and it is said that the 3.1s have a few issues, as most cars do, when they get up there in miles. A very nice car.
