Pros: Cushiony Ride, Easy to Maneuver, Good Outdoor View for all Inside Passengers Cons: Nothing
We bought our 2-door 4-wheel drive 1999 Chevy Tahoe new in July of 1999. It currently has 15,000 miles on it. If you are researching for a used sport utility vehicle, I am sure you are wanting to find out about the reliability, repairs,...
Pros: Room, comfort, power. Cons: None, besides not 30mpg fuel mileage. Poor dealer service, but you can go service elsewhere.
We picked up a 1 year old low mileage 1999 Chevy Tahoe to replace our older full-size Ford Bronco. We went with a Tahoe over a newer Bronco based on extra cargo room, 4 doors, better engine/towing performance, overall looks, and comfort. We've been ...
Pros: Very roomy, powerful engine, nice body style, useful features, affordable larger sized SUV. Cons: Stiff suspension off-road, groceries and smaller items tend to scatter around the cargo area.
We love our 1999 Chevy Tahoe LS 4-door 4x4. We bought it brand new from a dealer in Colorado Springs, CO, in January of 2000. It has almost 50k miles on it now.
The features on our Tahoe include a 5.7 Liter 8-Cylinder 350 engine, automatic...
Pros: great handling, lots of cargo space, easy to maintain Cons: transmission shifts a little hard, a few bugs to work out.
We purchased a new 1999 Tahoe in November of 1999 just days before the birth of our second child. While never an SUV fan, I felt like I needed a larger vehicle for kid-carting, and kid-gear-carting, and for safety. Having read all of the media hype...
Pros: Drives well, plenty of space, holds value Cons: Cost, back seat needs more leg space
In December 99, I did extensive research on purchasing a vehicle. Getting the best buy for the dollar was a major concern for me. I test drove everything from a VW,cadillac,Impala, suburban, etc. I began to especially like the sport utility vehicle...
Pros: Comfortable, safe, stylish and powerful Cons: Low mpg
The Chevy Tahoe is a beautiful and practical vehicle. I bought the LT model which comes with the things that you would expect in a luxury SUV. It has leather seating with power as well as heated driver and passenger seating. Another great feature is...
The reason I bought this vehicle is because I do a lot of driving and was tired of bigger automobiles running me off the road. My last car was a Chevy Corsica and while I loved that car I felt very vulnerable every time I drove anywhere. Now that I have...
Pros: Engine, interior Cons: Rest of the drivetrain and suspension
I've had a '99 Tahoe (29K miles) for three months after almost six years and 121,000 miles in a nearly problem-free '97 Chevy K1500 Silverado Sportside pickup. The difference between the two is night and day - I only got rid of the pickup because the...
Pros: Great look, easy to drive, comfortable Cons: Like any SUV, fairly low gas mileage
LOOKS/COMFORT
I've had my 1999 2 door LS Z71 tahoe for about a year now and I am loving it. I prefer the 2 door model to the 4 door because it's not as large and in my opinion, the 4 door model is just like the Suburban. For those of you...
Pros: very comfortable interior, lots of options, plenty of room, easy to maneuver Cons: nothing really
*I decided to go ahead and update my review about my '99 Chevy Tahoe. It is still a great vehicle...I have not had ANY problems with it. It comes with a lot of great options, including: -5.7 V8 (350) -Sport package (including Z71 off-road ...
Pros: Roominess, Power, & Ride Cons: Poor gas mileage
The Tahoe is the "king of the road." The Tahoe combines power, roominess, and versatility to be considered a great truck. I had one Tahoe than recently upgraded to the 99' LT. The Tahoe's power tows large loads such as a boat with ease. The...
Pros: Comfort, Lots of Room, Sporty, and Just Down Right Wonderful Cons: NONE but I don't have one yet
I haven't purchased the Tahoe yet but, after renting one for a weekend it is next on our list of things to buy. I loved everything about this vehicle. We have owned two Explorers and after the second one we decided not to buy another SUV based on...
Pros: Power, style and ride Cons: gas is always LOW!!!
For starters I really do LOVE this truck, it is what I have always wanted.
Power,Style, and how about the great gas mileage! well ok there is 1 bad point! The real deal is that I have had my truck in several times and the problems have been with...
Pros: Great pickup for an SUV! Cons: Low off road performance!
The Chevrolet Tahoe is, in a nutshell, a large expensive luxury vehicle with a capacity for going off road. The Tahoe like most SUVs is hard to maneuver in cramped spaces such as crowded parking lots, etc., but is worth its size in open areas. For...
Pros: Size, Style, Options, 4WD Cons: None from ME
I for one am a hilariously happy owner of a '99 Chevy Tahoe.
I cannot say enough good things about this car, I love it !
Before owning this car we owned a MiniVan of another make which I hated, and could never get any satisfaction from the...
Pros: Comfort, Smooth ride, Off Road capabilities Cons: unstable in 2 wheel drive, easily breakable air dam.
The chevy Tahoe is a good buy for its money. The interior is of upmost comfort providing leather bucket seats and dash. The standard sound system speakers, with optional cd player, provide excellent sound quality at all volume levels.
Pros: Room, comfort, towing ability, reliability, inexpensive to maintain Cons: Eats brake rotors for lunch, body build quality
I purchased a 1999 Tahoe LT with 60,000 miles in December 2003 to use as a tow vehicle. Now, almost four years and 45,000 miles later I can report that this a been a really good vehicle. It has been very reliable, needing only a few repair since I've ...
Pros: has a pretty red color Cons: not as big as it looks
I wanted a larger vehicle that we could fit our three teenagers comfortably. We should have brought them with us to pick out the vehicle.
I have had no trouble with the feel of the ride but the space inside and the fact that we are stuck in this...
Pros: 3 cig lighter slots for charging various things, child door/window control are easy to use, windows in the rear seat only open 1/4 of the way (for kids), ABS, power driver seat, rear air control a must, comfortable seats, well layed out dash. Cons: Window in rear seats don't go down all the way, RPM gauge is sticky at times.
Having to replace my 10 year old '89 Jeep Cherokee Laredo was the hardest thing I had to do. It was a work-horse, and aside from a failing electrical system, it still powered through the day. But after one child in the family, it just didn't have the...
Pros: all good things about the tahoe Cons: It sucks up gas sometimes
I own a 99 Chev Tahoe. It's 2 doors and is fully loaded. The color is charcoal grey with bigger tires. This could be one of the greatest vehicles ever made. I feel that it is most deffinitely the best sport utility on the market. It has a smoothe ride...
Pros: Vortec engine, transmission, comfort level Cons: brakes, fresh air system
After having owned several Ford SUV's since 1993, I decided that it was time for a change. Since 1996, I have owned a V8 Explorer, a 1997 Expedition, and a 1998 Expedition. The 96 Explorer had an ongoing rattle in the front end on hard right turns....
Pros: Roomy, comfortable and big Cons: filling up your tank is costly and gas goes pretty quickly
As the proud owner of a Chevy Tahoe, I can't imagine life without one. It's roomy interior makes it feel as though you are driving around in your living room. After driving this truck the others seem, well, wimpy. The heated seats are great in...
Pros: CD Player, Ground Clearance, Looks Cons: Size, Gas Mileage
I own a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4. I think it is one of the best vechicles I have ever drove. I recently owned a 1993 GMC Yukon 4x4. That also was one of the best.
The things I love about this vechicle is that it has a high ground clearance as...
Pros: Lots of room, very comfortable, handles like a dream. Cons: loose steering
I bought my 1999 Chevy Tahoe in August of 2001 and I have yet to be disappointed with it's performance. I had never been a big fan of SUV's until August of last year when my girlfriend Heidi and I decided to look at used vehicles. As soon as we...
Pros: Great gas mileage and plenty of space Cons: none
I have never been much of an SUV person, but in December of 1999 I bought a new 1999 2 wheel drive Tahoe. Was I impressed, you bet. This was the best purchase I have ever made. It rides great and it rides better then any car or truck I have ever owned or...
My husband and I were considering buying a new vehicle. I owned a Chevy Monte Carlo at the time and loved it, but we were thinking about starting a family and wanted something bigger. We look at the Ford Explorer, Chevy Blazer and Dodge Durango--but...
Pros: Takes me from point A to point B and questions me as to when we are going to head for point C Cons: Can't keep my wife from taking the car before i do every morning
I admit it i went with the craze. Texas is known for loving the SUV's. Myself, being a Texan, admit to following the heard and loving everything about my Tahoe. My job requires a lot of travel sometimes up to seven to eight hundred miles a week...
Pros: Performance, Handling,Style Cons: To many people wanting a ride
In August of 1998, I was given a 1999 Tahoe 2DR 4WD Sport for my graduation present from my parents. They said that instead of a "sports-car" they would rather put me in something bigger, and not as fast. The thing they didnt know about the...
AHHH the 99 Tahoe, I bought it so I could have a bigger, safer car to drive on the highway 30 miles a day to work. It is excellent!!!! The interior is roomy!!! This vehicle is sooooo easy to drive, it is unbelieveable! Whenever my kids are old enough to...
Pros: Roomy, luxury SUV, smooth ride Cons: Difficult to park, low MPG
I ended up buying a 1999 Tahoe a few weeks ago after looking at 2000 Tahoe. Because of the "model" change, I was able to get a very good price on a fully loaded 1999 with 8,000 miles for about $12,000 less than a loaded 2000.
Pros: Excellent car for a fair price. Cons: bad gas mileage
The Chevy Tahoe is an excellent car. I love to drive it. It is an enjoyable ride and it still has the powerful feel that an SUV provides. It gives you a feeling of driving a truck, which I personally enjoy. Many people would find this to be annoying...
Pros: Comfort, Drive-ability, and an all around good car Cons: Poor leg room in the back, inability to turn off daytime running lights
The Chevrolet Tahoe is an excellent choice for a mid-sized family. The Tahoe seats five(5) people with room to spare. The only problem with the amount of space that the Tahoe gives each person is that back seat is somewhat small for large or tall people....
Pros: roomy Cons: poorly designed, fraught with problems early on.
This one falls pretty far short of what I'd call a "luxury" SUV. I bought it because my wife has back problems, and for her the power passenger seat was a necessity. Toyota and others had comfortable driver seats, but none of the imports in...
Pros: Still good looking. Cons: To numerous to mention. Basically an unsafe lousy ride.
I've owned a 1996 Tahoe (It was Road and Driver Magazine's Truck of the Year that year). I now have a 1999 Tahoe.
They're not the same vehicle. Not even close.
The Tahoe, as it was originally conceived, had the chassis, suspension, power, and...
Pros: Excellent Handling Cons: Power, too heavy a touch on pedal jumps vehicle
Where do I begin to tell you how terrific this vehicle is. First of all, It is really easy to drive, I can tell you that. We own the 1999 Chevy Tahoe, fully loaded and it is great! With great features such as Cd player, heated front seats, rear...
Pros: Acceleration, quiet, smooth, bulletproof engine and transmission Cons: gas mileage
Picked this one up certified used fresh off of lease for 16K and some change !!!! 51K miles, looks like a new one. Loaded with CD, leather. It is definitely a best buy. Back seat is huge, plenty of room for 3 kids, adults (or hookers). Buy a gas card...
Pros: Safe, roomy, comfortable, great resale value. Cons: suspension a little bouncy
We love our 1999 Tahoe. We bought this vehicle because it is a large vehicle with plenty of room for large people and it has tremendous resale value. It does not depreciate as many cars do. We saw a used Tahoe on the lot for one thousand dollars less...
The initial attraction I had to the Tahoe was the fact that my 6'8" body had plenty of room in both front and back seats. It is like driving around in your den, especially if you spring for the leather package. The other reason why I bought my Tahoe...
I bought this vechile because I looked at it's great looks and large engine size. I also wanted a car to customize or be proud to drive and also to turn heads of course. I installed a 4 inch suspension and a 3 inch body lift and put on 35" Super...
Pros: Sport Utility Vehicle with looks and comfort Cons: Not having one
Reasons for buying the Chevy Tahoe was for its performance, style, comfort, looks, and power. The two door, white with black detailing give the look. Inside is comfortable seating for long distance or short just traveling everyday.
I would not recommend this vehicle, or any Chevrolet product to anyone. After purchasing a brand new 1999 Tahoe, it began to smell of mildew in the interior of the vehicle after only 4K miles. It has been into repair several times, and I have had to...
Pros: Its big and I can haul stuff Cons: Get ride of it before your warranty runs out! 35,000 miles and get out!
I bought my 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe new in 2000. Within the 2,000 miles we had the problem with the clunk noise (service bulletin # 990421004) that everybody has talked about. Since that time here is the list of issues: D-side door lock actuator replaced ...
Pros: Roomy, V8 power, Not as big as Suburban, Cons: MPG, Rear windows don't roll down all the way, Size can be intimidating
Ever gone on a long trip with more than just your immediate family? We do, every summer we go from Texas to Colorado. That why we bought the Chevrolet Tahoe. The interior is quite roomy, and comfortably seat five adults. Children can even ride in the...
Pros: comfortable, luxurious, tough, smooth on road Cons: pricy, hard to park at times
I purchased my Chevy Tahoe and have loved every minute. I debated on whether to get a smaller car that would be faster, yet when I test drove the Tahoe, the decision was made. It is a huge vehicle, that drives as if it were a small car. I can drive it...
Pros: Specious back seat, excellent cornering ability, never needs maintenance. Cons: Bulky body, is always a tight squeeze when parking.
I own a Chevrolet Tahoe and it was the smartest decision to buy it than any other i have made. It's smooth ride makes it easy to ride in for those that get car-sick. One may think that a sports utility of this size may not have the needed acceleration....
Pros: good engine, lots of room, nice ride Cons: not great on gas, could get better brakes
The Chevrolet Tahoe is a vehicle that I have done tons of research on and have come to the conclusion that this is one of the best SUV'S on the market. To start, the engine can handle almost anything that you want to tow, I have a 20' boat that weights...
I purchased the Tahoe for the four wheel drive. I live in the snow country of the Vail Valley and travel only on the interstate highways. Being a woman traveling a lot by my self I feel very secure in this vehicle. Purchased the end of April of '99 I...
Pros: Room, comfort, solid, handling. Cons: Mushy brakes
We bought ours new and still own it. It hasn't been without repairs, but has never left us stranded. Repairs are typical to be expected from Chevy. If you have any skills in mechanics, you can take care of most repairs yourself. It only has 50k miles, but we've been through an alternator, starter, water pump - all very easy to change out. Amazingly, these problems always occurred in our garage. Oh, expect to do front brakes about every 15k miles. It's a very solid and roomy truck. I'd like better gas mileage, but realize that it's a 2 1/2 ton vehicle with a V8. My wife is also a leadfoot, so I'm somewhat surprised it isn't worse. Gets very respectable gas mileage on the highway, though. We really need a third row seat now, but these things are too expensive.
Pros: Roomy, comfy, leather is always a nice touch Cons: Unexpected troubles, and gas mileage
I just purchased a 1999 Tahoe with 63000 miles. This is my first American made car. Some of the problems I encountered are warped rotors and the rear differential went out on the first trip out of town. Hopefully it's just bad luck. I am starting to wonder if I should have stayed with imports.
Would you put your family inside it? by ur8up ,Sep 14 '04
Pros: Nothing like driving a tank in a car crash Cons: Gas hog
I am an accident reconstructionist. I own a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe for two reasons: 1. my wife would not drive the Suburban, and 2. These things are solid. I'm not saying it is the safest on the market, but I don't see too many come out on the loosing end of serious crashes. I have owned many trucks, and the first thing I noticed with the Tahoe was how solid the doors and body are. I gave up my trucks for the Tahoe because I am a family man now and I can't stomach a MINIVAN (plus I've seen too many Minivans on the loosing end of crashes). This thing is a tank. Food for thought.
