GM Safari Van-A 2 Year Ride

by RcknRbn3 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 04 '01
Pros: Large seating capacity, fold down seat, capable of moving large loads
Cons: loose steering, poor driving in snow
I have been driving our GM Safari for about two years now. I was originally very impressed with the many features available in the Safari and the eight person seating capacity. The body itself is boxy but more stylish than many other minivans I've seen....

Just a Mean, Green Carpool Machine

by akivasmom , Sep 18 '00
Pros: Gives new meaning to the term "grocery-getter"
Cons: scarfs gas like a frat-boy with a funnel and a keg
"Wen?" My husband's voice woke me from what, at that point in time, qualified as a deep sleep.

"Mmpf."

(It was 5:11 AM. I was 7 months pregnant at the time this exchange took place, with a 20 month old and...

Safari So-Goody

by FarmFolks , Nov 09 '99
Pros: Comfort and Performance
Cons: None so far
We traded in a '97 Blazer because we wanted more room.
At $27,000 we landed on a '99 Safari AWD eight-passenger
van. It is surprisingly stable on the road and a remarkably
quiet ride. Having owned three other vans, we have found

Great Van

by dadechlu , Jan 23 '00
Pros: roomy, priced right, and powerful
Cons: boxy exterior
I went shopping around for vans for almost a month straight with my wife, and this van is by far the best we had seen. We had looked at several vans both new and used. We looked at and test drove several new vans to include the Chevy Venture, Ford...

Not made for the long haul...

by jackmahagauf , Jan 17 '02
Pros: Roomy, powerful, tows 5500lbs, family friendly
Cons: Dismal gas mileage, falls apart after the warranty runs out.
After I first purchased the Safari, I felt the same way everyone else did – I loved it. It was my big, green baby. With my second child still just a few months old, the Safari’s plentiful interior space was a breath of fresh air compared to the...

Can't believe I was duped, again!

by seventex , Jun 23 '05
Pros: Roomy interior, great access to generous rear cargo area.
Cons: Horribly engineering throughout, especially steering and tranny.
I traded in a disastrous 1994 Pontiac Transport, thinking the Safari would be just a heavier duty hauler for my family and gear. We needed at least seven passenger space, it is nice that this van has room for eight to fit comfortably. Almost ...

Living with a 99 GMC Sarari

by far_north_dad , Mar 09 '03
Pros: All Wheel Drive; Seats 8; Ok towing ability; ride
Cons: Getting into the back seat
My family includes Me, my Wife, 4 boys. Do we need the room? YES! This van is great for a family. We chose the all-wheel drive model because we live in Northern Maine, and snow is a big issue. That point brings up a very important consideration with...

Great vehicle for the family on the go!

by amandannoah , Feb 22 '00
Pros: Great family vehicle
Cons: Doesn't do well in snow
We bought our Safari right after our son was born. This is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. We bought the Safari to have more room for our growing son and for everyday needs. It easily holds a month's supply of groceries and cleaning...

Best On The Road

by Emery1630 , Dec 28 '00
Pros: Roomy, comfortable, family fun vehicle
Cons: Careful on those turns, it's a van.
For an 8 passenger family super van you just can't beat it !! If you do your homework and compare this van to ALL the other available mid-sized vans, the GMC Safari will always come out on top. Roomy comfort is the name of the game with plenty of power...

Family Comfort

by SandyS , Dec 12 '99
Pros: extremely comfortable
Cons: not as good of gas mileage
This last year I traded a Chevrolet Lumina minivan for my 99 GMC Safari minivan. It was the best thing I have done in a long time. We take a lot of long trips and my legs would get very tired. Then my feet would swell in my new Safari I do not have this...

Great Mini-Van
by daddy6x ,Jun 12 '05
Pros: Dual AC, gas mileage, handling, comfort
Cons: None found
We just traded a full size Chevy Van for this GMC and are very satisfied with the decision. It is very comfortable and handles very well. The dual AC is great. Seats are the best! Very air tight and no outside sounds come in. Highly recommend!
