| For 1999, the Sidekick has been completely redesigned and is now called the Vitara . The Vitara is available in four models - the JS two-door and four-door and the JX two-door and four-door. Some of the exterior styling changes include a lower roof line and sloping hood,which is designed to improve aerodynamics. Changes under the hood include a new 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine (optional on the two door models) producing127-hp and 134 lb-ft of torque. The JX models come equipped with a new 4WD system that provides shift-on-the-fly capabilities. A new rear multi-link coil spring suspension system improves handling and drive quality. A Plus Package is optional and includes cruise control, keyless remote entry and power door locks, windows and mirrors |
