Roomy but Unreliable

by congressmn

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Very roomy. Power to pass on the highway. Factory stereo not bad.
Cons: Unreliable. Fuel hog. Awkward to enter driver seat. Front passenger no footroom.
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend the Astro due to the poor reliability and bad resale value.

I would not recommend the Astro. We sold our Astro at ~45,000 miles due to continuous reliability issues. Two other families in my neighborhood all bought them at the same time and all of us had problems with them. The van was always garaged in ...

Good cargo hauler..and fits in your garage

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: nimble, lots of room, main feature is it fits into a garage, large gas tank
Cons: not a full size van, gas guzzler
The Bottom Line: If you don't need a full size cargo van, go for this one, park it in your garage ( and buy any color but white).

Purchased a 2000 Astro cargo van with two seats, a/c, rear windows and side window.... very pleased with it.... not full size load capacity but certainly ample for our needs and also fits nicely into the garage. Like the large capacity gas tank but not...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Very Comfortable and Sleeker Design then on Previous Models
Cons: None

The 2000 Chevy Astro Cargo Van is quite an improvement over the models of previous years. The entire van is designed not only for function, but also for comfort. The driver and passenger seats are high backed crew chairs that are built for comfort....

A functional machine.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Powerful, roomy, and useful.
Cons: Bland styling may bother some people.

If you don't mind the boxy appearance (which I actually kind of like), the Astro Cargo Van is a fine combination of power, space, and accessory features. As far as power is concerned, among minivans the Astro (or it's GMC Safari cousin) is the top...

2000 Astro van is a leaking boat in the rain!

by snlouisiana
Oct 26 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Good passing speed, high seat to see road ahead, not dinky like all other minivans.
Cons: Leaks terribly when raining. Less roomy than 1995 Astro. Fingers smashed twice in back door.
The Bottom Line: No, I wouldn't recommend this 2000 Astro van, but maybe another year model would be better. I keep comparing it to my fantastic 1995 Astro van.

Lovely teal color. Strong back and front bumpers that do not dent with minor accidents. Great side mirrors but as with all vans there is still a blind spot. Ease of movement on sliding side door but why doesn't everyone have doors on both sides? I ...

Carl's Chevy Astro Taxi
by carlsastrocab

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Speed sensor in the radio circuit, easy to hook up a taximeter. Engine generally problem-free.
Cons: Rear suspension needs helper springs as a minimum. Has differential problems.
Purchased through a car dealer friend for use as a taxi, making it the largest taxi in the local area. The 4.3L Vortec engine gives good pickup and fairly good gas economy on the highway. Extra seating for more passengers results in more business around a military base, where somewhat larger groups tend to travel together.

Cargo hauler

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Lock-out feature means you can't lock your keys in the ignition
Cons: Tuff to access engine, but I still do my own work
I found this van on Autotrader, while surfing the net one day. A cargo is hard to find in my area, or if I did it was too high on the price, Mine has 93k w/ a Lund visor, stainless wheel well trim, and nice running boards. Also it is gray, unlike the white that most of these come in. This van is perfect for hauling and w/ the options it is real nice on long trips. Too bad GM quit making these in 2005, for another SUV like vehicle...
