I've been driving a 2000 , 6-cylinder, 4-door, 4wd Explorer for six months now. So far it has its ups and downs. The ups: you sit higher and get a better feel for the road, it reacts quicker than most vehicles because of its short wheel base, plenty of...
A friend of mine let me borrow his 2000 Explorer for a couple of weeks, and I didn't want to give it back! My parents have the Lincoln Navigator, and in comparison, the Ford takes the cake. The Explorer isn't over-priced, it is comfortable, and it is...
Since I can't post duplicate reviews all I can tell you is that Ford is advising Explorer drivers to dangerously underinflate their tires. Ford's recommendation is playing a part in over 50 recent deaths. Please see my review under Accessories, Tires,...
Pros: Roomy, comfy ride, nicely equipped Cons: leather not avail on XLS model
After a month long hunt for the ideal SUV, I decided on the 2000 Ford Explorer, XLS model. I chose a black model with a sport package and it is a great looking vehicle. We have a son turning one and the lease was up on the BMW so we decided we needed...
Pros: Comfort Driving SUV Cons: Not yet recalled Firestone Tires!
2000 Ford Explorer LE is the first and last SUV that I will ever purchase. I am very happy with this vehicle and will keep it until its death. LE has all the luxurious components that one can ask for. My particular LE model came with heat-seats, auto...
We recently purchased an explorer and i have been in a Durango, a Mercedes ML430, and i have been in a mountaneer, expedition, and a bmw x5. Let me tell you that the explorer is the most solid and reliable of them all. It doesnt have a navigation...
Pros: Short drivers will be able to see! Cons: Gas guzzler!
ADDENDUM at bottom of review...
I'm short (5'4") and I have always had problems with blind spots in my cars. A truck or SUV made sense, because they sit up higher than a car. I'd always wanted an SUV, but didn't want to spend $30,000 on what I...
New in Colorado from the U.K. so thought I'd get myself an S.U.V. to cope with the mountains/snow/4 seasons in 1 day weather.
I had begun to close in on the Chevy Blazer as i didn't want anything too big as i found U.S. driving tricky at the best of times. Whilst out looking for vehicles i came across the Ford Explorer (in beautiful maroon) at a great price that i just could not ignore. It is a 5.3l V8 awd XLT version with all bells and whistles - 6 disc CD changer/rear aircon/stereo console/running boards etc.
Took it out for a test drive and straight away noticed the larger engine compared to the Blazer. It is a bit thirsty though.
Inside is very roomy with all features in easy reach of the driving position and when i went back to compare to the Blazer i couldn't believe how small it seemed.
Back seats fold down really easily with tons of space to even sleep in.
The only real issue was that it was a Ford, but hey, a lemon is a lemon no matter who made it.
A truly great car with has met all my expectations.
