Pros: Reliability, economy, did I mention reliability? Cons: The Civic is one of the most stolen cars-even the crooks know it's good.
General I bought this car at the end of the model year in August of 2000. After driving this car for nearly 5 years, I can say for certain that Honda got it right on this version of the Civic. For those of you that follow such things, you know this was ...
Pros: dependable, award-winning, very comfortable Cons: boring style, boring colors, everyone has one
After over a month of research (which is how I discovered the Epinions.com site, actually) I bought a Honda Civic Sedan LX two weeks ago. I test drove the Toyota Echo, the Mazda Protege, the Saturn SL1, and the VW Jetta in addition to the Honda before...
Pros: Great Car, Good Value Cons: Interior room can be better
This is more of a "long term test" of the 1.6 EL. Last year I was in the market for a compact 4 door with a little bit of power, with decent equipment. The North American Chevy Cavalier, Olds Alero were out of the question due to their depreciation,...
Pros: Excellent gas mileage, RELIABLE, GREAT CAR! Cons: uncomfortable seats
*** January 2008 Update*** I've now had the car for almost 8 years. It has cost me nothing outside of regular preventative maintenance per the manual schedule. UM... I LOVE this car -- it isn't flashy, but it is FABULOUS! She now has 110,000+ miles ...
Pros: Reliability, Performance, Overall Appearance, Low depreciation Value Cons: More Cabin Room
Any foreign enthusiast would agree that the manufacturers at Honda, by far, destroy all competition in the market of new and especially used vehicles. Honda has gained a remarkable reputation in the industry and will remain to have one for a very, very...
Pros: Roomy, price, reliability, resale value Cons: Handling is no longer precise, too much float and body lean
We bought our new silver Honda Civic EX on October 17, 2000 from AutoNation. So far we are very happy with the car. There were several minor defects covered under warranty which the dealer fixed promptly. As with any new models there will be defects....
Pros: Great car for the price Cons: Rear legroom tough with 4 adults
When we went to buy a car we wanted to downsize our second vehicle. I was leary when my wife indicated that she wanted to trade in her 1994 Accord on a 2000 Civic, but since she was to be the primary driver I agreed to look. I looked, we drove we...
Pros: Gas mileage, price, value, options (EX version) Cons: back seat a little small, some strange things seem to be missing
My husband and I just bought a new 2000 Civic EX about 2 weeks ago, and I have never been happier with a car. My sister has a 1998 EX, so I had some insight into the quality beforehand. We test drove once, and bought that same night. It is a little...
Pros: Double-Wishbone Suspension, Reliability, Handsome outside styling, Resale value is the best of any car Cons: No seat belt pretensioners, Interior left me cold, horsepower on lower models, inflexible dealership pricing
In my never-ending new car search I did test drive this car twice, as well as having grown up with this car being owned by my parents, for a time. So I feel pretty confident about reviewing it.
My Honda Civic Experience
I am a graduate student and wanted the most reliable, efficient transportation possible. After studying up on the possibilities in my price range (up to $12,000 base price), I narrowed my choice down to the Toyota...
Pros: Styling, fuel economy Cons: Drum brakes only for the rear wheels
The new Civic EX for 2001 is a marked improvement over and already successful vehicle, the 2000 Civic EX. For 2001, the Civic gets a new body style...sportier front fascia, refined taillights, and plastic wheel covers resembling alloy wheels on the...
I have always loved Honda, when I met my wife and bought a 93 Ford Escort (purely for financial reasons) It was a sacrifice because I really wanted a Civic. The escort was OK but I lost the AC and had transmission problems, but it got me thru the tough...
Pros: Cheep Cons: Alot of them on the road, engine not to powerful
All right...this car is a little subcompact machine...that looks good. Well, atleast used to. Have you seen those awesome supped up civics out there. They used to do it with the old ones a couple years back. They looked so freaken bad azz. I mean,...
Pros: roominess, zippy, affordable, power everything Cons: poor gas mileage
This is my first car. I bought a car because my company was planning to move. I needed a reliable, safe, affordable car that can take the 35-mile daily commute.
I bought a 2000 Honda Civic EX sedan with automatic transmission because it fit...
Pros: Fairly nice looking exterior, decent acceleration, large trunk, well crafted interior Cons: Doors feel flimsy, expensive for class
I drove a 2000 Honda Civic DX as a rental car when my car was in for maintenance. When the Civic pulled up, I wasn't necessarily thrilled to be driving it. I knew the car was reliable, and I've only heard good things about them, however I am one who...
Let me start off by fist telling you that I am a current owner of a silver Honda Civic like the one shown above and let me also tell you that when I first drove it, I fell in love for the first time in my life. This car has it all from great looks to...
Pros: Value-Quality-Mileage-Power-Style Cons: I am 6'4''-- it is a little too small- but not by much
I was in need of a dependable, quick, economical, and quality used car. Having previously owned three Honda's that were all of the above, my first and only, test was of the 2000 Honda Civic. I was pleasantly surprised at the features that were included...
Pros: The Light 1.6L 127hp VTEC Engine, 35 mpg Fuel Economy, and Comfort Cons: Sloppy Body Roll, Low RPMs Have No Acceleration, $19K + price tag
My Wife and I recently bought a 2000 Civic EX and we LOVE the car to death! Buying Civic's runs in both families. She has a 1991 Civic LX Sedan(automatic) with 5 billion miles or so on it and it runs like .. eh.. not new.. but close.. and I had a 1993...
Pros: Reliability, build quality, excellent visibility, logical controls, low running costs, ease of maneuverability, Cons: stereo system sound quality
This is a car that I bought for my wife, who is new to this country and not a confident driver. She went for it right away, compared with some other cars, because it was very easy to see in all directions from the drivers' seat (she is 5'2"). This is...
We just switched from a 94 Accord (4-door) to a 2000 Civic (4door) because we heard that the sizes were comparable. This has turned out not to be true. The Civic still feels significantly smaller than the Accord. However, in mitigation of this, the...
Pros: Reliable, efficient, smart and affordable Cons: Hey... this IS an economical car, you know! ;)
Honda Civic. Those two words evoke many different adjectives and emotions within these United States. Here are mine ;) My Civic: 2000 Honda Civic DX 4-door, green colour My mom bought this car in February 2000 new at Goudy Honda (Alhambra ...
Pros: Great Performance; Roomy and comfortable; Cons: No side air bag
It can be hard to convert a Toyota fan into a Honda fan. It was not an easy switch especially when one's life was protected by side airbags installed in the 1999 Toyota Corolla. But when my wife saw the 2000 Honda Civic 4 door, she knew that she had to...
Pros: reliable reputation, affordable Cons: none really, except if your are trying to unique.
We use three factors in determining which car to purchase, its main function, durability of the last 2 years model, and how much we wanted to be in debt over the car. After studying and contemplating when and what car to purchase, my husband and I...
Pros: Quality, Reliability, Gas Mileage Cons: Lack of Get Up & Go, Styling
I picked this car out for my wife 4 years ago and it's been a dream to own ever since. It has over 88,000 miles on it and has only been to the shop once for anything other than general maintenance and that was only last month. So four years of just oil ...
When i say that the Honda Civic is the best value in the new car market, i mean it. The Honda Civic 's combination of inexpensive price tag, great durability, economical fuel mileage, and solid repair history back up that claim. For the money, you...
Pros: The Civic is a great little car for little (and not so wealthy) people. Cons: Um, it's kind of little. And it has issues with speed.
See that silver car in the picture? That's my car. Sure, mine's a little dirtier. And it's got slightly more wear. But still, same make, model, color, and everything. And it's beautiful, don't you think?
Pros: many standard features, stylish, and Honda's reputation Cons: none so far
I recently bought the 2001 Honda Civic Coupe (4 door). To be honest with you it wasn't a hard decision. I have owned two Honda's previously- 1988 Prelude and 1994 Accord. I never had any problems with either car, other than the Accord being wrecked, but...
Pros: This car might be the ultamite mini-racer Cons: Go Coupe
Well this car is probably the best car I've ever seen on the market. First of all it qualifies as a great commuting car, using almost or more than thirty miles to the gallon (a great thing for these gas shortages). This helps drivers conserve in the over...
Pros: Small and fast. Cons: Headrests can be uncomfortable. Easy to hear road noise
When I started searching for my first car, I went straight to the Honda company. I liked the Civic style the best. But the next choice was 4 door or 2 door. Thinking of all the people that will be riding in my back seat I went with the 4 door sedan....
Pros: price, cd player, keyless entry Cons: no power windows, not much leg room
Needing a new car for winter, I wanted a small SUV. However with credit problems, the only car we could get was the Honda Civic VP. I wasn't happy to be in a small car, but my opinion has changed. We've had it for a month and my husband never gets a...
Pros: reliable, economy, fun to drive Cons: back seat space, some road noise
I am an owner of a 2000 Honda Civic SE and although it is not a great car to look at, it is very reliable transportation. This is my third civic. The first I still have (91 hatchback) and serves well as our second car with over 200000 Km driven.I also had...
Pros: fuel efficient, quiet, reliable, spacious. Cons: can't think of any after one year of ownership
When someone in the house had a skunk-dodging incident that caused a fatality to our 1997 Civic, we needed to find a replacement vehicle. Instead of buying a used '97 Civic, or buying a different make/model altogether we decided to grab a 2000...
Pros: price, ride, miles per gallon, look Cons: back seat space
Man...I have spent 6 months looking for a car that was affordable, practical (needed to park in Cambridge) and had a good record. After test driving and almost purchasing the VW Jetta...I was taken back by the price, and the poor warranty offering (2...
When I moved to New Jersey for my new job, post graduation, I learned that I need a car to get ANYWHERE in New Jersey. I didn't have my license, nor any idea as to how to drive a car, let along buying a car.
After getting my license, I did my...
I purchased a new 2000 Honda Civic LX. It reminds me so much of our old Honda Accord, 1983. The new Civic has get up and go. It is quick to respond and easy to get around in. I'm 6'2" and there is plenty of room in the front seats. The rear is...
Pros: mileage, reliability, interior Cons: hates hills, automatic sometimes shifts erratically on hills
After two years on the subways and busses of metro Boston, I decided it was time for a car. I was set on a used car, but then I saw the 2000 Civic VP, which cost less than the used cars I was looking at. I had never driven one before, but knew everyone...
Pros: Styling, comfort, power Cons: Not roomy enough for us
I will start out boldly by stating it again, this car is the absolute king of compacts. There isn't a competitor out there that can even compare in complete package.
I test drove one of these as soon as the '00s came out. I was pretty...
We owned a 1983 Honda Accord. We drove it to death. When it came time for a new one we were very disappointed. The 1996 Accords were not up to the same standard. So we purchased something else. Now it is 2000 and we thought we would take another...
Pros: good car - great price Cons: a few minor design flaws
I have had 5 Hondas in my life, so you could say I am biased, but my 2000 EX Civic is still the best car I have ever owned. We had a baby in October of 99, and we needed a 4-dr vehicle, but I wanted something cool and not too expensive either. We went...
Pros: No wonder it's right up there in owner loyalty!!! Cons: Not a lot of head room if you're tall
My 1997 Civic EX Coupe is the 4th Civic I've owned. I have bought all of them new; and I even traded one in after a little more than a year, because Honda came out with a color I liked better.
Pros: Good Consumer vehicle, comfortable, nice gas mileage, good pick-up. Cons: What happened to the low-end torque!?..I'm kidding, Honda's aren't famous for that...I know.
Well, Honda's aren't known for their engines. The 1.6-liter, non-VTEC engine producing 106-peak horsepower and
103-maximum foot-pounds of torque is proof of that. And before I get yelled at, I must add a disclaimer, that hey, the figures aren't...
Pros: The Civic is a compact, comfortable, stylish, but yet roomy car Cons: I wish I could use the power windows when the car is on accessory
I have a silver 2001 civic ex, and it is the best car I've had experience driving. The civic offers good visibility on all sides, I have never had problems seeing like I have on other similar cars. I'd say the gas mileage is excellent. I can drive for...
Pros: Fuel Economy, Styling, Price, Lots of aftermarket stuff for this car. Cons: Weak engine at low RPM. Body Roll.
I consider myself a very performance oriented person. I choose my cars carefully and make any after-market changes I feel needed. When I first looked at the Civic EX 4-door, I was looking for potential. This car is full of it. With the many cool...
Pros: durable, fun, great looking, great resale values, good horsepower Cons: no torque whatsoever, crummy stereo, no wagon version
My 99 Civic EX is the third Honda I have purchased in the past several years, and it might be the best car (overall) that I've owned. My previous Accords (88 and 91 models) performed absolutely flawlessly over the 80-90,000 miles I owned each of them,...
Pros: good mileage, comfortable, great 'extras' Cons: poor mileage on highway
I used to own a Ford Taurus ('96). She was my first baby and I loved her. However, when my husband and I moved to a city that was 1 hour away from work, we needed a new car that didn't guzzle gas like it was water.
Pros: reliable and very cheap to drive and maintain Cons: small car slightly cramped
In the mid 80's I purchased a used 1976 Honda Civic 5 speed. It was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. The auto handled perfectly on bad roads, had all the power I would ever need and was really considerate on my pocket book. Repairs to my...
For me Safety and price are the 2 top priority items ,when buying a car.

Pros: bargain, for what you get Cons: engine sounds weak
In the UK, the Honda Civic, has very much become a car that you see middle-aged women driving. Perhaps this isn't the case in countries abroad, but just how it is over in England. The car looks like a sports car, but then it also looks so small. When we...
Pros: great gas mileage Cons: pickup is decent but not like a V6
I bought my very first car (2000 Civic VP) December 1999 during my senior year of college. I had never had a car before so this was a big event for me. My roommate had (and still has) a 1986 Accord and it was awesome, never had problems. So, for me it...
Pros: low price, reliability, trunk space Cons: could use a bit more HP
We recently purchased a 2000 Honda Civic, our 4th Honda (I guess you could call us "Honda junkies")and we were pleasantly surprised. We were downsizing from a 97 Honda CRV, which we loved but could no longer afford. With 2 small children...
Back a few months ago, my jalopy of car died on me and I was left without wheels. Quite a difficult thing for a 21 year old guy. So I sat down with my mom and step dad and told them what I wanted. The first thing they said is that I needed to set a...
Pros: responsive, fun to drive, and looks sharp, while still being economic Cons: alloy wheels not standard
My name is Robby Cochran and I sell Honda automobiles for a living. I have been a top Honda sales person for the last two years. That's why I feel that my opinion really means something.
Last september I bought my first Honda--A 2000 Honda...
Pros: Reliable and excellent gas mileage Cons: Cramped leg room on the driver's side. The standard 4 cylinder is sluggish.
The 2000 Honda Civic sedans are a significant improvement over the 90s generation. Style, room and performance have all been upgraded. The new Civic that I purchased has the next generation "V-Tech" engine. This little four cylinder is peppy,...
Pros: Great pick-up and go, good gas mileage, reliable! Cons: Sound system--a little smaller, I think?
I have owned Hondas since 1985. My college-age son is still driving my 1990 Civic with 250,000 miles and the only major repair was replacing the clutch last year.
My 2000 Civic 4-door EX does not disappoint. It's got plenty of power for...

This car is better then anything else we have ever driven. After years of GM loyalty, and trying Ford, Toyota, and Volkswagon, we have found our brand of car. At our house, there have been: 3 Volkswagons, 9 Pontiacs, 1 Buick, 1 Chevy, 1 Oldsmobile, 1 ...
Pros: Great performance, value, and a good first car Cons: Not suited to families or large groups of people
I got my 2000 Civic EX at the beginning of November and it's the first car I've owned myself. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a small car, especially in a city. This is a great first car, it has great handling and good design and gets...
Pros: Nice size, big trunk, great AC system, nice features, affordable Cons: Really low to the ground, can't transport grandma cus she can't get in and out

Pros: smooth driving, great break system, roomy, fun Cons: might be too small for some people
Being 18 and still in high school, it is hard to save enough money from
a part-time job to buy a new car. I only had a small budget, so I had to
be smart in what to buy. My sister already owned a Honda Civic, and other
people I knew loved...
Pros: Roominess, Amenities (Ex), 4 Doors, Sporty Cons: Still searching...
I have to say that this car has far exceeded my expectations. I bought my used Honda Civic because I got a great deal on it and I needed a car. However, had I had to look around and comparison shop, I'm sure I would have ended up with the same car....
I really like my honda civic. It really gets the job done, if you know what I mean. the car gets excellent gas mileage, unlike my husbands truck. There is a few set backs on this wonderful car, however. One is that when the weather is bad, no driving...
Pros: Very reliable engine and transmission Cons: Not as roomy as I thought

Pros: Great Mileage, Low Maintenance, Quiet Ride and lots leg room Cons: Not Enough Horse Power Going Uphill
I like my civic, I never has any trouble with my car so far. It's easy to maintain and troublefree. I also saved a lot of money on gas. Gas is not cheap now a day. There are plenty of legroom in the back and the front. I drove my car by myself for...
Pros: Comfort, enough power, fair price Cons: Interior air director not as convenient as in last model
Having owned Hondas for the last 25 years I admit to bias, but my new 2000 Civic sedan once again justifies my partiality. My last two (leased) Hondas were Civic Coupe models. My only criticism was that the 6-CD changer mounted in the trunk obstructed...

Pros: Great mileage, great reliabilty, great design Cons: None that I can think of!
The 2000 Civic may look a little different, but it's still a Honda, through and through. Our EX came in Vintage Plum Pearl, which is simply the most fantastic color on a car that I've ever had! It was also unique...I only saw 1 other car in that color...

I recently bought a Honda Civic, and love it so much that everytime I go anywhere I would drive the car no matter if the place was like 2 blocks away, but I started to realize that the engine is pretty weak for places like San Francisco, if you might...
Given a choice I would have bought a Mercedes Benz "S" Class sedan or a Cadillac STS! But I had just arrived to the US (from India) with exactly $100 in my pocket and my trusted Apple Power Mac PC as my only baggage. I...
Pros: Safe, Reliable, Comfortable, Sporty, Good fuel economy, can seat 5 people Cons: might be a little over priced

Pros: reliability Cons: boring, sparse, overpriced, tinny and small
I must say I was both surprised and disappointed when I test
drove the new 2001 Honda Civic. I was fully prepared to buy either
a Toyota Corolla or Honda; I bought neither. The look was simple and
nice, not standout (of course...
I bought this vehicle as a used car last year. I needed a car with style but at a low price. I love that this car is good on gas and is very well built for its price.I hate that it is very small and a bit low to the ground. This is a good car for single...
Pros: Attractive, Very reliable, Comfortable to Drive. Cons: Common, Underpowered, Small, High Priced, Kids see it and must try to race it.
Everyone knows that Honda is a reliable name. I agree with this, but I also think they are extremely overrated. My Civic is a two door value package DX. I love the color (iced teal I believe) and I love how comfortable it is to drive the car. What I dislike is the power the car has. This car has only 106 hp. this isn't a huge problem, but I get tired of struggling to keep up with traffic. Another con to this car is the fact that people try to race me all the time. It gets old when some kid rides on you almost everywhere you go. Another con is that I have an automatic transmission and my car sometimes seems to downshift roughly when I brake hard. I'm concerned that I may have transmission problems. This would be a good car for a family for young kids, but it's too small and underpowered to be recommended for several passengers. This is a good car, but there are better deals out there.
