Pros: Excellent package for the price Cons: limited colors, GT models could handle better, very long (184inches)
**UPDATE: My search for a car is complete! I ordered a Legacy GT Ltd in Black and after waiting 3 months, just received it. I'm very happy! Read on though, this review was written BEFORE I decided to buy this car!
PS: May 4th: I just picked up my...

Pros: safety, practicality, well designed Cons: a little pricey, transmission sluggish at high speed
I know car rating is very subjective. I "upgraded" from a 1994 Escort hatchback, so I may overrate the Legacy a little despite attempts to stay objective.
A baby does not fit in a truck or 2 door hatchback safely nor conveniently, it...

Pros: The Subaru Outback has Much Trunk Space and Gets You Around in all Seasons. Cons: Best with Snow Tires & Steel Rims.
I live on top of a mountain in New Hampshire and require a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle just to get home. I have had a Chevy.Blazer, Toyota Tercel and since the Fall of 1995 have been driving a 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback. While the vehicle came...

Pros: Wagon (one of few available now), AWD, mostly bullet-proof drivetrain, great towing Cons: Fuel economy is relatively poor (well, AWD). Dealerships are jokes down here in south. The Bottom Line: Wery impressed by overall versality/utility and towing performance. If you like that, subaru may be your answer.
If you have no use for AWD, skip subaru (MPG penalty).
OK, i will chime in on my car. It is a white legacy wagon, and still is beatiful even though not pristine anymore due to hard work. The other reviewers covered all the bases including the beaty of AWD and so. I will add that it is a great towing car. ...

Pros: Good looks, value & All-Wheel-Drive Cons: Narrow seats if your wide, adequate trunk...fits two golf bags+shoes+whatever but is not huge! The Bottom Line: Have owned 4 Subie's and every one of them has been a rock-solid machine and we've gotten our money out each of them.
[ Updated: June 2004 ] Just passed 60K. on this puppy and it's still going strong. Besides the usual general maintenance, the only really big expense has been a major brake job at about 45K and new tires all around at 40K...had to replace the rotors, ...

Pros: Great road feel, sticks to ground, good brakes. Cons: Back could be bigger, not enough sound in the back, needs more power
Every time I get behind the wheel of my 2000 Legacy GT, I feel that i'm in a safe and reliable car. All wheel drive is the best drive a person can have. I live in the Northwest, it does rain a lot, and my Legacy stays true to its advertising and sticks...

Pros: Affordable, fun to drive Cons: Outback is too inflated
Even though my family is only comprised of three people, I felt the appeal of a station wagon to be undeniable. The cargo room of a truck, with the ease and comfort of a car. Coupled with my entirely positive experience of Subaru's and its being the most...

Pros: SAFE, comfy, good gas mileage Cons: NONE - THIS IS A GREAT CAR! The Bottom Line: The bottom line is: Legacy saved my life! It keeps me safe in harsh winter conditions. The best car on the road. :)
Update: 12/02: I was involved in another accident and again the car was there to save me. This was also a front-impact accident, and after repairs, the car is running great again. Definitely recommend for safety reasons.

Pros: good handling, comfort Cons: no power, lack or cargo space
With 15 year experience in automobile consulting and sales, it is my opinion that the Subaru Legacy LX model automatic fully loaded is an all-weather automobile that is highly efficient for its job. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite have the power within...

Pros: Too German to be Japanese! Cons: Brighton needs power windows and a cargo cover.
My beloved '97 VW Jetta GT was totaled and I hated the 2000 Jetta. I needed a car fast, and after four VWs I needed something new. I was really disappointed with everything I test drove and nearly gave up on anything from Japan or Korea. Then I saw the...

Need a 4wd sports sedan? Can't afford that audi A6 or BMW 530i? That Audi A4 or BMW 325Xi too small for your tastes? Try a Subaru Legacy GT, or GT Limited on for size. That's right, a Subaru!
This car is beautifully detailed. The...

Pros: Styling, All-Wheel Drive, comfort, ergonomics Cons: Could use more power, especially with the automatic The Bottom Line: Its like buying a reliable toyota with AWD
The first thing that drew me to the Subaru was the fact that for a reasonable price, you could get a tested and proven STANDARD all wheel drive vehicle. Next was which model to buy since they all had standard awd. The legacy offered the most room, and...

Pros: Comfortable Seats Cons: Automatic Transmission is reluctance to downshift. The Bottom Line: This is one good alternative which you can get with less than $20000
I have bought this car a week ago for approximately the same price as a Honda Civic. I however do not think Subaru Legacy is a better car than Civic, I just don't like Civic that much, because everybody has one. I choose Legacy, because it makes me...
