Pros: Very well designed suspension/ steering system. Cons: None
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME FIRST:
I have read many reviews on automobiles from aesthetic, interior, power, warranty, options, etc. points of view. I believe an important, but always neglected area, though is from a steering and...

Pros: Smooth, quiet, handles very well Cons: Middle passenger headrest in back slightly obscures view in rear view mirror
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of driving a Subaru Outback AWD Wagon in Colorado when the rental car we originally started with, a Nissan Altima, failed to operate. Having to wait too long for a replacement, Budget was kind enough not only to...

Pros: Solid, quiet, outstanding stable ride that grips the road with all wheel drive. Cons: Limited luxury features for the price. The Bottom Line: Subaru Legacy Outback 2000 quick, great handling, durable, well built and designed. Could use a little more luxury for the price.
I have had our 2000 Subaru Outback Limited wagon for six months now (Sept. 2002 update). It was the best choice to balance my dreams of an SUV and my more reasonable side that said, get a car! What I'm learning most about is maintenance cost and how to...

Pros: A nice car Cons: Sleazy horrors - Carlsen Subaru, Redwood City
I’ve read good things about Subarus, and enjoyed driving the Outback. But this review is not about the car, so much as my attempt to buy one from a specific dealership, namely Carlsen Subaru, at 480 Veterans Boulevard in Redwood City, California, 94063....

Pros: AWD, ABS, handles well, comfortable Cons: where's my full sized spare?
This is the new Legacy Outback. I set out to buy one of those until I found out that starting MY2000, the Outback is its own model line now. I chose the Legacy GT. Why? I wanted more of a wagon than an adventure car. To me, a wagon has everything an SUV...

Pros: Amazingly smooth drive Cons: No passenger mirror on visor
I don't spend money on a lot of nice things for myself, but I love to always have a brand new car. I think I have had 6 brand new cars in the past 10 years! I know, I know, it sounds crazy. But hey, it makes me happy! Not only have I bought 6 new...

Pros: High clearance, AWD, and decent fuel economy in a comfortable car. Cons: We have only minor quibbles with our Outback. The Bottom Line: If you don't need this much car, please get something with better fuel economy. For us, our Outback is proving a comfortable and practical car for our lifestyle.
If you've read any of my reviews at all, you probably know by now that I (and my spouse, too) am a cheapskate (economical, if you want to be nice about it). So what made a couple of skinflints spring for a car that's not exactly cheap, and a brand-new ...

Pros: Fuel econ, quiet inside. Cons: Steering system is messed up
I purchased this car in March of 2000 after a great test drive. The dealer allowed me to drive a demo off road and use the ABS in the rain. Previously I had leased an 1997 Impreza Outback Sport and was very pleased with it. I just wanted to get a...

Pros: All wheel drive, luxury feel, cargo space Cons: Horsepower
I absolutely LOVE my Subaru Outback Limited. It is safe and reliable.
Positive Qualities:
High ground clearance - higher than many SUV's.
Weight - The Subaru weighs almost as much as a Cadillac. The heavier the car, the...

Pros: Fun to drive. Reasonably priced. Safe. Cons: Ugly interior fabric. Tight rear seat.
I recently bought an Impreza Outback Sport, the "mini" version of the Outback. It certainly isn't as roomy or luxurious as the big Outback, but it works for me.
I love this car! I have always been attracted to the looks for some...

Pros: Well engineered. Handles great Cons: Skimps a little on creature comforts
I was driving a 1988 Toyota Corolla SR5 which was serving me well. However, the body started to rust and I ended up in the new car market. I have always believed in owning a car for the long haul. I got married recently and wanted something that will...

2000 SUBARU LEGACY OUTBACK WAGON

Pros: comfortable and spacious interior...lots of cargo space. Cons: Basically it's an SUV, not very good gas mileage, difficult to park. The Bottom Line: Spend your money on a better product.
Take this opinion for what it's worth. I don't actually own this car, in fact, I don't own any car. I prefer walking or public transportation. Since I live within a block of campus and within a short bus ride from where I work I can't really...

Pros: Great winter performance. SUV alternative with great ride, handling and visibility. Good safety ratings. Cons: Hard seats. Engine power just adequate. No rain gutters. Some controls seem backwards. The Bottom Line: Why buy an SUV unless you do serious towing? The Outback is safe, handles well, costs less, has an advanced AWD system and carries as much as most mid-size SUVs.
I have substantially revised my original review to emphasize how we decided to purchase a 2000 Outback. Rather than provide the same objective information you can find on websites and in other reviews, I focused on our needs and decisions. Obviously,...

Pros: Well-Constructed. Good Fuel Economy. All-Wheel Drive Cons: Front Seat Passenger Room. Minor Details.
My Dad is looking for a new car for my mother. My parents currently own a 1991 Ford Aerostar minivan and a 1997 Mercury Mystique. My father would've purchased another Mercury Mystique, this time with a V-6, but Ford no longer manufactures the Mystique or...
