Pros: Nice appearance and comes loaded with comfort and safety options. Cons: The only thing Cadillac about the Catera is the logo on the hood. The Bottom Line: The Catera is an imposter it tries to pass itself as a Cadillac. If not be for this I would recommend it.
Who Wants a Cadillac that Zings? A few years ago I rented a Cadillac Catera for five days. I just had sold my Ford Explorer and had to deliver it to the new owner. After turning over the Explorer I needed a car to get around for a few days and return ...

Pros: Roomy inside, plenty of toys Cons: Lack or power, noisy ride, poor handling The Bottom Line: There's lots of cars in this price range that have a better feel, ride and pickup. For $30K+ you expect more from a car.
My wife and I have been looking for a new family car for several months. Not yet ready for a true family sedan, I was looking for a sedan with a nice ride, roomy and stylish. And, I didn't want to spend a fortune (shooting for around $30K).

Pros: 200hp 3.0 v-6; 3 mode adaptive transmission a "real" dual exhaust, its rear wheel drive!!! Cons: They dont make it anymore The Bottom Line: This is a great in between luxury and sport sedan
I recently purchased a blue 2001 catera from a local used car dealership. I had almost forgotten that there even was a cadillac catera. I remembered the commercials from back in 2001. From the outside i was impressed with the body styling and chrome ...

Pros: Nice looks, great sound system Cons: The car is terrible The Bottom Line: When Consumer Reports rates a car as a "Don't Buy", why bother! Don't buy!
In 1995-1996 while TDY to Naples Italy I rented an Opel, I can't remember what it was called now, but it was an Opel! Anyway the car was nice for long trips, somewhat loud, it didn't have very good pickup, but it was great on the Autobahn... I thought...

Pros: Ride, Handling and Overall Quality Cons: Poor Radio Reception The Bottom Line: I OWN this vehicle and have put almost 13,000 miles on it. I could not be happier. You should definitely consider a 2001 Catera Sport!!
I purchased a 2001 Cadillac Catera in May, 2001. I've had NO problems and have been extremely impressed with the ride, handling and overall quality of the Catera. I purchased the Catera Sport with 17" rims, OnStar, power moonroof and all other options...

Pros: Comfort, handling, heated seats, Bose stereo system, good visibility, nice leather seats, low-profile tires. Cons: Other reviewers say there are reliability issues. More power would be great.
I was loaned a 2001 Catera Sport for a week and really liked the car. It was real quiet, responsive, handles great, and has lots of options to make the trip comfortable. Throttle is controlled by a drive-by-wire system meaning there is no cable but and electronically controlled throttle plate which maybe is why the gas pedal is so responsive? The auto-leveling rear suspension is nice when there's extra weight in the trunk or extra passengers. The car weighs a lot because the gauge of the metal is so thick. I found the car's body and chassis to be built like a tank. Yes, more power would be great as the car weighs near 3800 pounds. But the gear ratios seems in-line with the power curve. Cornering is where I found the car to really shine. Maybe not up to BMW standards but close.
I would like to purchase a low-mileage 2001 White Catera Sport as their resale is horrible.
