One of the best 4 door Sedans on the road

by jesterrace , Oct 24 '06
Pros: Good gas mileage, reliability, peppy and stable on the highway
Cons: Reduced rear visibility due to elevated rear, whine from air vent at highway speeds.
The Honda Civic has long been known for it's reliability and fuel efficiency but as others have mentioned on here the 2001 4 door model has a little more pep to it than previous models. My parents purchased a 2001 Honda Civic LX during the summer of ...

What can I say, I just love Hondas!

by stefanies , Jan 17 '05
Pros: Excellent gas mileage, very reliable, very little maintenance required, great factory stereo system
Cons: could use a bit more power, shifting on the manual a little touchy
Well, I guess you can say that I've always been a little biased toward Hondas, but I did have one car that gave me some comparison...my first car was a '96 Accord, and I loved it, but after the lease ran up, my parents decided to get me a more ...

Nice Car For The Money

by nikefreak Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 07 '04
Pros: Great gas mileage, fun to drive, a lot for the money, it's a Honda!
Cons: Wish there was a little more power
Now this is a long time after this car has come out, but you ever think that someone needs a review for a car that has actually owned it for awhile, instead of a owner who just bought theirs off the showroom floor? Not dissing the other reviews at all, ...

Just a Civic

by kuponoodles , Dec 30 '03
Pros: Resale/residual Value. Standard options, gas milelage. Roominess. Trunk Space. Clean Shifting. Cheap insurance. Visibility
Cons: Lazy/soft clutch. Strange power curve. cheap doors. Elusive seatbelt, ashtray sized glove compartment
It's the little engine that could and did and is still going. Other than being a good value and a practical, efficient people mover, the Civic is...well... rather bland. Personally, that is the only reason why I think the Civic has been so successful. ...

Econo Sedan Is Passing the Test of Time

by apd603 , Dec 13 '03
Pros: Well designed, good value, great use of space, great mileage, smooth engine
Cons: Suspect component quality, engine noise, pitiful stock tires, mediocre winter performance
May 2005 Update: After the spate of quality problems, mostly during the 36 month warranty period, the car has been quite well behaved lately (knock-on-wood). My Civic is now almost 4 years old and it has served me well on my 65 mile commute each ...

Pros: Great gas mileage, excellent handling, smart interior ergonomics.

A Great Buy!

by blaisepascal , Jun 06 '03
Pros: Looks great, not economy looking.
Cons: 1.6L engine, poor torque and hp.
I purchased my Honda Civic 2001 DX on a whim one summer. Its been a solid car since the day I drove it off the lot. My only concerns have been the front strut replacement at 22,000, 48,000 and again at 62,000 due to manufacturer defect. Also an odd ...

Excellent Value but Poor Quality and Reliability

by acuradriver , Mar 11 '03
Pros: Excellent value. Outstanding list of equipments for the price.
Cons: Assembly quality and reliability lacking.
Had a 2001 Acura 1.7EL (available only in Canada) that is similar to the Civic EX. With 4 wheel disc ABS brakes, side airbags, heated mirrors, power everything, it is quite a bargain at $22000 CDN. However, assembly quality and reliability are not as...

The pros far outweigh the cons

by keshishian , Feb 20 '03
Pros: Reliable, fuel efficient.
Cons: Lousy suspension, not enough horses.
We bought a Civic EX 2001 new about three years ago. No problems so far except for a clunk sound that came from the rear left whenever I went over a bump, which has since been fixed (under warranty). It really does use only about 32 in the city and 37...

Good car for the money

by rockythecorgi , Nov 14 '02
Pros: Very safe in a crash
Cons: Hard to see out of side windows
We bought a new 2001 Honda Civic and have been mostly happy with it. Initially there were several recalls that had to be taken care of before I was willing to say that. Of course, since we got the car early in the model year, we were some of the first...

Best Driving Car

by absolut025 , Nov 13 '02
Pros: Gas Efficient, Sporty, Comfortable drive
Cons: Haven't found any yet
I have driven several cars, but to me the 2001 Honda Civic is most worth the money. Mine is almost 2 years old and it has kept me happy. I believe it drives well, both short and long distances. It's comfortable to sit in and ride in. The gas mileage...

2001 Civic is almost a hit, too many misses

by mikenmp , Oct 25 '02
Pros: Excellent fuel economy, flawless reliability, attractive styling.
Cons: Boring interior design, So-So engine power, did i mention boring?
I bought an '01 Civic almost because i needed a car with very high MPG. at the time, this was pretty much the only vehicle that can acheive almost 40mpg highway. At first sight, this seemed like the perfect car; excellent fuel economy, flawless...

by gqscientist , Jun 26 '02
Pros: great lease, zippy, roomy, 87 octane, gas mileage, flat rear floor, comfy seats
Cons: no remote trunk, rattles, American built, cd player awkward position
I have been driving fast/luxurious V6 or turbo cars all my life...passionate auto enthusiast. My priorities have been changing and I needed to save money. I spent months driving/researching other cars. All my die hard car friends (engineers, nerds,...
