Pros: Excellent reliabily, gas mileage, safety, stability. Cons: Rough ride on bad roads, some body rattles, noisy Boxer engine, high repair costs. The Bottom Line: Durable car that will give you great peace of mind.
When in mid 2005 I was shopping around for a mid-size affordable station wagon, I came across this car in a used car section of a Subaru dealership. The car had power everything, a cloth interior, was automatic transmission, had a CD stereo, and roof ...

Pros: Excellent passive safety. AWD. Fuel economy. Reliability better than average. Very fast. Cons: Expensive parts, some body noises. The Bottom Line: Excellent dependable car that will last you a long time if you take care of it.
Bought it in mid-2005, and running perfectly. Before I had a 1995 Toyota Corolla, and I can tell you it is like apples and oranges. The symmetrical AWD really makes the car stick to the road and feel stable, even at high speeds. On one occasion I had a ...

Pros: Fun to drive!, AWD, luxury perks, unique Cons: Rear visibility, underpowered, some rattles The Bottom Line: A fun sporty sedan with the appointments of a much more expensive car. But, if you want any power out of this car, the 5-speed manual is a must!
I bought my 2001 Subaru in 2002. My dark green GT Ltd was the last one on the lot and was deeply discounted. At the time I bought my Subaru, I was also considering the Nissan Maxima and the Infinity I-30. The Subaru came out on top.

Pros: Handles like a sports car with room to spare! Cons: None so far! The Bottom Line: Whoopdy-doo....I love my Subaru!
With the 2003's already on the lot and the 2002's being discounted, I found a left-over-leftover "new" 2001 for a bargain. (Under $21,000). It has an alarm, a spoiler on the rear and a compass mirror that's very handy. I cannot wait for my 1st snow...

Pros: A reliable five passenger car that's great in the snow. Cons: Somewhat boring to drive with relatively high ambient noise when on the highway The Bottom Line: A very reliable wagon that is probably the best buy in its class.
I have now been driving my Subaru 2001 Legacy wagon for approximately one year. It replaced a Saab 900S so I expected lower performance and fewer creature comforts, and that's exactly what I got. While it is somewhat unexciting I have found it to be...

Pros: cost-effective, AWD, wagon-style, 5-speed Cons: a little narrow in the rear The Bottom Line: Nice family vehicle for small families: safe, economical, lots of trunk space and reliable!
I have been urged for years to replace my beloved Escort hatchback with a "family oriented" car. At 140k miles, the Escort still has absolutely no sign of FORD (fix or repair daily). However, since the baby is already here, I had little choice.

Pros: BMW like handling, Japanese quality Cons: engine needs more oomph, buy the 5-speed. The Bottom Line: German-like car that has a great AWD system that handles quite well. The engine could use more power, but hey, are you racing other cars everyday?
I purchased a 2001 Legacy GT Limited Sedan (5-speed), with all of the options. This includes the leather seats, upgraded stereo system, side airbags, among others... For the price (about 26,000 dollars), you really can't beat all of the options that you...

Pros: Looks good, drives good, & reliable. Cons: Engine slightly underpowered, not quite roomy enough inside The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this car - especially the GT wagon. For the money you get alot of car.
This is my first Subaru. I was aware of the devoted owners before I bought this car in October 2000, and after one winter I think I understand why.
Our Subie wagon is Titanium - a great color. Looks good and hide dirt well. There are not...

Pros: Great looking Cons: Hard braking, weak tires, gas mileage only average The Bottom Line: I would not buy another one because of the quality issues--I feel a new car should be headache free for at least the first year....
When a lawyer unexpectedly uncovered a small amount of cash my father, dead for 15 years, had left to us, my first instinct was to purchase that much-needed new car. The research led us to the Subaru not only for reliability and cost but because of the ...

Pros: goes anywhere, safe, comfortable, holds lots of stuff Cons: alarm system
I live in Central Mass where the weather in the winter has both ice and snow. My driveway below the road grade and is on a numbered road which is quite busy, and the snow plows create a slush bank 12 inches high. I also like to take a hilly back road...

Pros: great handling Cons: hard to see out the back window
To be truthful, I didn't want to buy a new car this year, but after 4 months and $1,000 in repairs on my old one, and it STILL didn't run right, it was time to move on. I had decided I wanted an all wheel drive car, because of the snow and ice in the...

Not a bad car

Pros: Quiet ride Cons: Uncomfortable seats
My aunt bought a legacy wagon back in 2001. It was sort of funny how I thought this vehicle was so cool! I guess its good for just running about town. The car is fairly quiet when the windows are up. The ride is fair too. The front seats are extremely uncomfortable, offering little or no lumbar support. I've ridden in the front passenger seat a lot and it has sufficient legroom. The rear seat isn't bad either but it could offer more leg and shoulder room.

Pros: all-wheel drive, roomy, durable, classy Cons: clearance
I've had my 2001 Subaru Legacy sedan for a little over nine months. It's just hit it's 100,000 mile mark and I've had absolutely no problems! It runs splendidly in snow, sand, hail, and crying babies. I recommend this car to anyone living in the mountains in need of All wheel drive AND style. It's the perfect size for a small family or for a single mountain lover.
