| Volkswagen has redesigned the Passat sedans and wagons and introduced them as the new Passat for the mid-2001 model year. The new Passat is available as a sedan or wagon, in one of the following trims: GLS 1.8T, GLS V6, and GLX. The base GLS is powered by a 170-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the GLS V6 and the GLX are equipped with a 190-hp V-6. The exterior of the new Passat has been resculpted, resulting in a slightly longer vehicle with a sleeker profile. The new grille and headlight assembly are complimented by chrome trim strips and redesigned taillights. All new Passats are equipped with four-wheel ABS disc brakes and dual front and side-impact airbags. Volkswagens 4MOTION AWD system is optional on the V-6 powered models. |
