The BMW 5-Series returns for this year with some key changes, including added standard equipment, option package revisions, and new exterior colors. The 525 models are now equipped with standard automatic climate control, while the whole model line receives an in-dash CD player as a part of its standard audio system. The optional Premium Package now adds a universal garage door opener and an eight-function on board computer. On sport wagon models, the Cold Weather Package now appends a ski bag to its list of components. Exterior color choices have been revised and now include Blue Water, Toledo Blue, Sterling Grey, Kalahari Beige, and Black Sapphire. Also new for 2002, the power output on the 4.4L engine has been increased to 290 horsepower.
