The Ad-Venture Van Can!

by houseproject
May 15 '03 - Updated Aug 11 '06

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Smooth Ride, Good Mileage, Lots of Space, Handy Features
Cons: Console Design, Battery Access, No rear storage well
The Bottom Line: If you want space, comfort, convenience and economy, all in one package, the Venture is for you!

I am now a certified convert from the SUV herd. I rolled my SUV ( see my other reviews ) this winter and we took a hard look at what we REALLY wanted out of our next vehicle. We do a lot of 600 mile+ road trips every year and wanted long distance ...

Bugs Bunny along for the ride

Oct 04 '02 - Updated Oct 07 '02

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Good ride, excellent features
Cons: 'seat switching', storage
The Bottom Line: It's under-rated compared to the pricer Odyssey, and for the money is a much better value.

When we had our third child, my wife insisted on getting a minivan. The '99 Tahoe was taxing her ability to lift all three kids up to get in the truck, given her 5'3" height.

I grudgingly gave in and began my research. After 3 weeks of...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Family friendly, easy to use for mom who has her hands full.
Cons: Some problems with AWD
The Bottom Line: Great 8 passenger, AWD mini-van. Lots of seats for extra passengers, good for cargo space, an overall great mini-van.

I've had the Venture for over two years. I really wanted a vehicle that would haul all my stuff, and my kids stuff! I've always said I needed a U-Haul. Well, I got it!! When we did our research, I knew I wanted an 8 passenger mini-van! The Venture ...

The good points are FAR outweighed by the known defects

Aug 21 '04 - Updated May 21 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Quiet inside, adjustable and useful interior, mileage, good outside view, unoffensive exterior.
Cons: Quality failures should remove this from your list of options without question.
The Bottom Line: Not worth considering for any reason, at any time.

My wife and I purchased our '02 Venture as our '00 2-door Alero was not exactly ideal with a 13 Y/O, a dog, and a 100 year old house we are working on. We considered a pick up, but our driveway does not have a lot of room to swing one of those around, ...

Reliable, roomy, comfortable.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Roomy, with a lot of features
Cons: Human factors missed the boat
The Bottom Line: A good vehicle, but check to see if the controls will drive you nuts. (Are you listening, GM?) Also, get the extended wheelbase if you carry a lot.

We've owned this van for over a year and it has been problem free to date. The van is very roomy ...

I like my Chevy Venture LT

by www67_99
Jul 07 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Economical, comfortable, quiet, well priced and roomy
Cons: Still some typical domestic designed vehicle issues.
The Bottom Line: I usually get 10 years and over 150,000 miles out of my vehicles. Time will tell if this van holds up. I like it, so I hope it does.

We looked at a few vans, and were seriously considering the Honda because a few friends have them. I ...

MONEY PIT!!! Do not buy one at ANY price! If so, get AAA!

by jlh330i
Oct 27 '07

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 1.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Lots of room inside
Cons: In the shop constantly
The Bottom Line: I bought it because it was practically new for $16K. I should have put in a few more $$ for a Honda or Toyota.

Firstly, I have taken care of all the maintenance of this car from day one: regular oil, filter and coolant changes, even gas additives on occasion. And this is what I get. I bought my 2002 and had the first problem at 8K miles - check engine light, ...

Warner Bros. edition

Nov 04 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Sound, safe, roomy, comfortable, 22-23 miles per gallon, quiet smooth ride.
Cons: The organizer could be stronger in the rear.
The Bottom Line: This is the perfect family van. Dvd for long trips to occupy the kids, easy conversion for hauling large objects, comfortable and safe.

We purchased this van in May of 2002. It's now been through several long family road trips, and hundreds of short jaunts into town. So far it seems to be the best vehicle we've purchased yet. We tend to drive our vehicles until they're on their last l ...

Very satisfying mini van

by robertde_1
Jan 18 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Excellent ride and handling, good mileage, very comfortable
Cons: Less cargo space
The Bottom Line: If you are buying a mini van, seriously consider Chevy Venture.

I purchased Chevrolet Venture as my second vehicle. We already drove a Honda civic.
We have been to long trips. The second seat has the child safety seat that is very convenient for our son to sit. Even in long trips, the venture is very smooth and...

Jan 16 '03

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Many gadgets for entertainment
Cons: No captains chairs in Warner Bros. model
The Bottom Line: This van is a great family car and an excellent value

The van that I am reviewing is the Chevy Venture Warner Brothers edition with the LCD television monitor and VCR. This van is great for long trips or short rides, but especially for the long trips. Children will no longer become bored on trips because...

Westwood Chev misses the GM Completely Satisified

by greyventure
Sep 02 '05

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No

Pros: Not easily stolen (with OnStar) Solid body construction
Cons: Transmission goes wonkey after 60,000 km Intake manifold is a known issue
The Bottom Line: Owner's beware of expiring warranty and problems that follow, think about upgrading to a vehicle with longer extended warranty.

Took my 2002 Chev Venture in because I notice two or three transmission slips over a 2 week period. The front line service reps are very personable but the backroom boys are deplorable and dishonest, and the kid who is the service manager would be able ...

Not so Great.....
by mommyr
Nov 05 '03
Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: No
Pros: None with this one
Cons: Has been trouble from day one. Bought a lemon.
We purchased our 2002 Chevy Venture May of 2002 and we have had problems with it from day one. The biggest one was the power sliding door. It seems to work when it wants to. It vibrates over 60 mph and stalls at times when you are pulling into a parking lot. GM is buying this van back from us due to all the problems we have had. We owed a 1998 Venture before this one and it was trouble free. We are now going to try our luck again with a 2003. I really like the Venture I just think someone was sleeping when they put this one together. I have test drove the Dodge, Ford and looked and the Town and Country none of them seem to compare at all with the comfort of the Venture.
