Pros: lots of cargo/passenger room, can tow very heavy trailers, comfortable sofa-like seats, power-adjustable pedals Cons: wide turning-circle, parking a hassle in tight spaces, loud diesel engine
The Ford Excursion is the largest sport-utility vehicle on the market. I would only recommend this vehicle if you REALLY need to tow 11,000 pounds.
EXTERIOR: Like some SUV's on the market, the Excursion is based on a pickup truck. In...

Pros: Huge, haul lots of people, can tow large trailers, seems commercial grade powertrain Cons: Huge, steep depreciation
2002 Ford Excursion Limited 4X4 7.3L PowerStroke Diesel
The vehicle I looked at was black with monochromatic trim and looked very nice. However, this is a huge vehicle that seems rather commercial.
Starting in the front, this vehicle...

Pros: Towing Capability, Front leg room, great seats, interior room, handles well for large vehicle Cons: parking can be a challenge
I am the proud owner of a 2002 Ford Excursion Limited Ultimate with the Powerstroke Diesel (PSD). I am very pleased with the vehicle. Several factors led me to buy this vehicle. First, I wanted something with a third row seat, but with usable...

Pros: Diesel mileage, power, room, attention to small details Cons: Poor ride, poor handling, flat cloth seats, part-time 4wd only
When looking for a vehicle that had room for a family of six plus two large dogs, the ability to tow up to an 8000 pound trailer, and then add in wanting 4wd, there were not many options on the market.
We looked at several 1/2-ton vehicles but...

Nashville Tennessee must be the accident capital of the world. My wife has been involved in 5 crashes. The latest when she was 9 months pregnant. She is pregnant again so we wanted a vehicle which was safe for her and easy to haul the kids with. The...

Pros: It is BIG, POWERFUL, ROOMY, ECONOMICAL, and FUN to drive. Cons: Braking is a little weak for a vehicle this big.
This vehicle is the best I have ever had. It will haul 8 people in comfort and all of there gear and tow the the trailer with all of their horses in it.
Don't bother with the V-10. The Diesel Powerstroke is a must. I am using the micro tuner from...

Best big SUV ever made!
by bigmw ,Sep 11 '08
Pros: Everything! The space, safety, power, versatility, durability, vehicle is extremely asthetically pleasing as well. Cons: The only con which might bother some is mediocre fuel milage compared to some.
I absolutely love the space, power, comfort and safety of my Excursion. Ford built this vehicle right when they incorporated a full 3/4 ton chassis instead of the usual wimpy 1/2 ton versions used by GM and Mopar. I have a commanding view of the road and more than ample space for 8 ADULTS and gear. It handles well for a behemoth and can tow just about as big a toy as most of us can afford. I wouldn't trade my big Ex for ANY new vehicle in the world! I love it!
