Pros: Interior, Price, Options, Overall build quality. Cons: Engine could be a tad more aggressive in non turbocharged trim lines. The Bottom Line: The 2003 PT Cruiser offers excellent bang for the non go-fast automotive consumer's buck.
It seems like yesterday when the 2001 PT Cruiser first hit the streets. While once being one of the most exclusive cars on the road (much like the reinvented VW Beetle in '98) the PT Cruiser is now sort of a 'get lost is traffic cruiser.' Hundreds of...

Pros: Unique styling, power, people and cargo room, fun to drive Cons: Styling could become dated, fuel economy a bit low The Bottom Line: With the turbo a surprisingly well-rounded vehicle.
In recent years, the auto market has moved from one retro-vehicle mania to another. In 1998 it was the VW New Beetle. Then in 2000 (2001 model year) it was the Chrysler PT Cruiser. Currently its the MI

Pros: Relatively cheap, exceptionally versatile, fun to look at. Cons: Middling gas mileage, slightly underpowered, a Chuck Mobile, not a Chick Mobile. The Bottom Line: I recommend this car for those who want to mix a little fun into their practicality. I bought it for that reason myself. 90,000 miles and no rattles or squeaks.
By now it should surprise no one that this auto is no longer considered quirky, though it is still considered ultra retro. With its good looking (IMHO)pseudo Panel Truck aura comes a well-fitted set of body panels. The exceptionally close tolerances are ...

Pros: Comfortable heated seats, lots of power, solid and durable Cons: Poor gas mileage, hard to steer The Bottom Line: A cute, roomy, powerful car that is fun to drive on the highway. Poor gas mileage and tight steering make it less than desirable for city driving
When our underpowered Infiniti GT20 died a premature death, we decided that our top priorities in a car were sufficient power and durability. Post 9/11, we also wanted to buy an American car. I adored the look of the PT Cruiser. It met all of our ...

Pros: Styling (exterior), functionality Cons: gas mileage, no noticeable improvements over previous years, fender bashing vulnerability The Bottom Line: A highly practical and stylish wagon, the PT Cruiser is fun but unrefined. Wake up Chrysler before someone else comes out with the next retro thing.
The PT Cruiser has been on my shortlist of cars to replace my BMW 3-series lease but a recent drive in a 2003 PT Cruiser shows that there are some rough edges that Chrysler should address. Overall The PT Cruiser is a 4-door wagon, retro-styled ...

Pros: Interior versatility, fun to drive quotient, ease of entry/exit, tons of after-market baubles and bolt-ons. Cons: Mileage, turn radius, some interior quirks. The Bottom Line: I got a lot more flexibility than I would have gotten with a sedan, and a lot more fun that I would have gotten with a van/SUV.
I have just exceeded 1500 miles on my 2003 PT/GT Turbo, and I am able to share these observations: Why did I buy - I have a history of back problems, and I need to use my personal vehicle at work. I do a lot of city driving and I need to load/unload ...

Pros: Styling, Cargo Space and Price. Cons: Turning Ratio, Rear Visibility, Seating Controls & Fuel Economy. The Bottom Line: The perfect car if you want the space of a SUV without the bulk. Cute styling that gets you noticed. Recommended to all looking for something a little different.
I purchased my PT Cruiser GT Turbo in Jan. 2003 and so far it has not let me down. My lease on my Ford Explorer had come up and I really had not been considering the Cruiser, but my parents and husband talked me into at least giving it a look. I ...

Pros: Solid construction, unmatched utility, aggressive engine (GT) Cons: Terrible gas mileage, poor switch placement, weird options, large turning radius The Bottom Line: Great value for a small, flexible, powerful car. The 2003 GT has the utility of an SUV, with (most) of the handling of a compact car.
I had been in the market for a new car for the past year or so. The PT Cruiser had really appealed to me, mostly because it excelled in almost all the aspects which I desired in a vehicle: utility, size, cost, handling, efficiency, and appearance....

Pros: Best heated seats, good cargo room, exterior styling Cons: Acceleration, gas mileage, prone to flats, turning circle, headlights, reliability, wind noise The Bottom Line: The reliability problems kept me from purchasing the car, but I still dream of the heated seats.

My wife and I bought a new PT Cruiser(Touring) in July, 2003. We've had the car now for about 4,5 months and driven about 6400 km:s with it and are just as happy with it as we were on the day we bought it. You've all heard this before: * cute looking ...

Pros: Style, comfort, build quality, practicality. Cons: Not a muscle car by any means. The Bottom Line: This is a stylish car, with solid mechanicals and tastefully artistic design both inside and out.
If you've read my other auto reviews, you'll know that most of my driving is with rental cars, usually with low miles. I'll recap what you need to know about all this. Rentals suffer from having multiple drivers, many of whom don't really care whether o ...

Is the PT Cruiser for my wife and me? That was the question. For the past ten years, we have been faithful Honda SUV owners and recently owned an older Mercury Villager Van. In reality, the van was sort of a clone of the Nissan Quest. So, both of ...
