Pros: Solid performance, nice ride/handling at price point, sharp looking. Cons: Disappointing fuel economy, still has minor compact car drawbacks The Bottom Line: A nice all around car at its price point.

My brother's 1998 Chevy Malibu had deteriorated into nothing but problem after problem. Not just nagging problems either, potentially big money problems. Fed up with it, he traded it in on a brand new 2003 Dodge Neon SXT....

Pros: Goes like a bat out of you know where
Comfortably fits 4
Economical to own Cons: Gas mileage so-so
Noisy engine
You will need to buy a radar detector The Bottom Line: This car rocks! A true sports car for a very low price.
Having previously purchased a 2000 Neon, and loving it, I was very familiar with the Neon platform. However, my college-bound daughter needed some reliable and efficient transportation (and the Neon has been incredibly reliable), so she inherited 'Old ...

Pros: Comfortable, roomy, cavernous trunk, smooth ride, air conditioning system, acceleration, stereo system, tank in snow! Cons: Mediocre fuel economy, defective radiator, roof pillars hinder visibility. The Bottom Line: A good solid car. Ride, handling, and spaciousness are up there with much larger sedans. Some visibility issues and a popular radiator flaw. For the money, it's a deal!
This car is really a Dodge Neon, but in Canada the name was changed to SX 2.0 in 2003. Maybe this was done to hopefully make people forget about the old neon and it's problems. My wife purchased the car in August 2004. The car was one year old and ...

I bought the car new in September '03 to replace my camaro. My wife and I had a child on the way and since we both had camaros we needed something with a usable back seat and better gas mileage. After looking around we decided to go with a Neon SXT. I ...

Pros: 7 yr./70K guarantee, looks nice, priced well, decent acceleration Cons: road noise, too low to the ground The Bottom Line: If someone is looking for an inexpensive car, I'd recommend this one. Would I buy it? Only if my financial state went crazy or I needed an intown car.
First of all, the reason I was driving the Neon SE was because my car, '01 Pontiac Aztek, was in the shop. I want to keep that in mind, because I went from a much larger vehicle to the Neon for just a couple of days, hence the title. Even tho I missed...

Pros: Great power, handling, stereo, comfort, and quiet, for a small car.
Cons: It is a small car, sinking feeling that it just shouldn’t be this good.
The Bottom Line: The Germans have taken over, and that’s a good thing.
I recently hit a deer. This is usually bad, but at least for me it was good, because I could step out of my old car and into something a little better while mine is fixed. In the past I would go to my Toyota dealer and rent a Corolla or Matrix, but I ...

Pros: Great price, awesome features, looks sharp! Cons: Beefier engine would be a plus. Fuel economy is good, but not stellar The Bottom Line: Go for it! The auto industry NEEDS business, and they'll do just about anything to get it (including giving you a SWEET deal!).
I was looking for something to replace my '92 Shadow, and the '03 Dodge Neon was the ticket! I got a great deal on it, not only because of it's low price, but also because a friend of mine works for Chrysler. It's got awesome features, and it's a dream ...

I bought my Neon in October of 2003 as I was in need of a car. I had a 2000 Neon that was ALMOST PAID FOR, then one night while driving home from work, I creamed a buck on the highway as I was traveling about 75 mph.. needless to say my poor little ...

So we have owned this car for a little less than a year now, and I have to say I hate it now! I think about the only thing good about it is that the gas mileage is good! This car has extremely low power and it is quite a struggle to get up to 60! ...

Pros: There isn't one thing I don't like except that I didn't buy it sooner!!! Cons: None Whatsoever The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a new car and don't want to spend a lot of money I recommend the Dodge Neon.
Well I love the 2.0-liter 132-horsepower 16V engine, the white -faced instruments, the leather seats, the speed control and the rear spoiler. Its a good car for the buck...I would recommend it over the import cars. Car was delivered with 28psi in tires....

Hard not to like this car, but there are better compacts out there

Recommended: No
Pros: Handling, Styling, Nice interior. Cons: Lacks acceleration, noisy on the highway, lacks refinement.
After hearing the horror stories about the 1st generation Neon, I figured the engineers should have been busy making sure they got this car right. The resale value on these cars is low, so if you're buying used, there are good deals out there.
Overall, this is not a bad car, but it's not great either.
The 2.0L Engine is noisy and with the automatic, the highway gas mileage is no better than a small V6.
Back in 1994 when the Neon was introduced, 132HP was top of the class, but 10 years later the horsepower hasn't changed and just about any small car can now blow the doors off the Neon.
If you spend about $3500 more, you could buy a Japanese car which will hold it's value better and is more refined. If you want a cheap newer car, I'd recommend the Neon, but the dealer won't be begging for this car in trade when it's time to upgrade.
