Pros: Quiet, smooth ride, quick throttle response, great headlights, seriously sexy appearance. Cons: Not sure that it needs or warrants 18 inch wheels
I recently traded in my 2001 A6 2.7t Quattro with sport suspension for the 2004 'SLine' A6 2.7t. I'll make this rather brief and to-the-point. (See my rather extensive review of the 2001 A6 for more detailed information on the A6 platform and driving ...

Pros: Drives nice although the engine is underpowered. Cons: Horrible product quality. Audi customer support is a sham.
Recalls. EXPENSIVE repairs. Scam "customer advocates".
I owned (read; past tense) an 1999 A6. That fiasco ended 3 days ago. The person I work for has a 2004 A6 and is having the same problems: ongoing, repeated electrical problems, gas tank problems, front brakes and rotor problems, engine check lights and ...

I should paint my Audi bright yellow like a lemon
by kelseyataltos ,Aug 13 '04
Pros: Good interior trim. Adequate seats. Smooth running engine. Cons: Knowing the service manager too well.
This car purchase was a horrible mistake.
One might think that with a smooth engine, nice interior
appointments, the appearance of good fit and finish, that
the product might actually be worth $40K. Quite the
opposite is true. The vehicle is absolutely unreliable.
Electrical problems abound. Oil seals routinely leak.
Oil consumption is a bit scary. Suspension appears subject
to premature wear(out). Recalls are routine. The bottom
line is that Audi has proven that they cannot compete with
Japanese OR American car reliability.
When looking at comments from owners, place less emphasis
on responses from new owners with "new car giddyness". Once
you have owned one of these for awhile the true lack of
craftsmanship and over quality becomes readily apparent.
Good bye Audi. Hello Toyota, Lexus, Acura...

Noisy brakes
by ggoodman ,Sep 14 '04
Pros: Handles great, faster than it needs to be in the USA. Cons: Bi_turbo has a mind of its own.
I just drove a 2004 A6 2.7T, S type for a week while my 2002 was in the shop. This is a real nice ride for an Audi. Holds the corners and accelerates nicely. Unfortunately, when it decides to accelerate is not always under your control. The computer that decides when to activate the Bi-Turbo has a mind of its own. It may offer you a quick introduction to the local police.
You may also want to know that All Audi brakes after 2001 squeak. Audi claims it is from the lack of asbestos. One technician told it was to save money.
