  • Does the 2004 Impala deserve its name?

    Feb 03 '04
Pros: A lot of car for the price, power, ride, trunk room
Cons: Dated feel, uncomfortable rear seat

Summary: To the consternation of many Chevrolet loyalists, GM resurrected the Impala name for the oh-so-bland Lumina’s 2000 model year replacement. These loyalists felt that only a powerful-rear-drive car, one like the mid-90s SS, deserved the name. The new ... read more

Cons: Cheap plasticky interior, boring, mundane, did I mention the cheap plasticky interior?

Summary: I didn't buy the Impala, I get a company car that is swapped out every 2 years, and this is the second Impala that I have driven for a 2 year period. There's a lot to like about this car, particularly in my case where I don't pay anything to drive the ... read more

Pros: Acceptable power/performance, extremely roomy interior, great exterior fit and finish
Cons: interior fit and finish, and at 3500lbs 180horses is just adequate, weird design on seats

Summary: This is not my car, however it is my sister and brother-in law's car, however I tend to drive it on a daily basis. They bought the car new in 2004 with just 26 miles on it. they opted (or settled) for the base model, 180 horse 3.4 6 cylinder, ... read more

Pros: Roomy interior, rattle free, reliable engine
    Cons: cheap interior

Summary: When I purchased my new Grand Prix a few months ago I received some free oil changes. So when the "change oil" light came on, I drove the car to the local Pontiac/Chevrolet dealership. At this dealership, you drop the car off in the morning, they give ... read more

Pros: looks, ample HP/torque, handling, gas milage, room, ride, fun to drive, proven reliability. Attractive rebates.
Cons: Only Black. Tacky plastic interior components. Not RWD. Older technology (but proven!) under the hood.

Summary: I recently purchased a 2004 Impala SS and found this site in the process of researching reviews etc of the 2000 Impalas. Thought I would add my comments: This car has loads of room! I originally was looking at the Monte Carlos and Nissan Altimas. My ... read more

Summary: Recently we just bought a new Chevy Impala. It is the base model with the 3.4L V6 engine. The main reason we got this vehicle is because of a credit card that allowed us to receive a discount on the car's (already low) price. It was already marked
