Somehow I never got around to driving a PT Cruiser while the car was still the in thing. For 2003 Chrysler made a turbo engine available in an attempt to rectify the most common criticism of the basic car and to maintain public interest. As Im ...
Pros: It has a really comfortable driver's seat! Cons: Cramped car - poor interior design.
It was Memorial Day Monday. I was out running in errand in my new car. I was slowing for a red light, when BAM the car behind me smashed into me. I wasnt hurt, but my new car was pretty beat up, so I was left to drive a rental for several ...
Pros: German Transmission, powerful 2.4L engine, Versatile interior, kid friendly but still sporty Cons: Starts getting squirrely after 80 mph, only takes premium gas
After my 1995 Mitsubishi Galant broke down and was going to cost more than its worth to fix it, I decided to by my first new car. In the time my car was in the shop, I rented a base model Cruiser. It looked great, and was very roomy inside, but there ...
Pros: Distinctive looks, great interior room, great get-up-and-go. Decent MPG, fun to drive! Cons: Turning radius not great, visor could be longer, awkward tilt steering lever.
I bought my 2004 PT Cruiser in December of 2003 after my lease was up on my Explorer. I had looked at the VW and the PT, but the deciding factor was the rear leg room in the PT - I have a 14-year old daughter with VERY long legs. Having never driven ...
Pros: Cool looking ride, decent MPG's, lots of room, lots of storage Cons: Chrysler Mechanicals.
I have a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser base model in Cool Vanilla that I bought on Dec 31st, 2004. I really like the looks of the car, and it feels so much more solid than anything else I've driven. These are high quality cars! Those who are ...
Pros: Price, power, nice styling Cons: I really dont like the dash, it's the same color as the outside.
Few cars provide such a wonderful experience for under $20,000. This is the latest addition to my collection, having already a Chrysler 300C, Buick Regal, Ford Taurus, a Grand Caravan, and a Dodge Ram, our driveway is getting quite full. However this ...
Pros: headroom, "trunk" space, mirror adjusters, radio adjustments, comfort, beauty. Cons: Visor doesn't seem to shade all the way to the side of windshield.
I purchased my first new car since 1979 a month ago. Obviously, it was the PT cruiser described above. I love this car! I picked it up during a snowstorm here in Denver, CO. I was a little anxious because, as I said, I have not had a new car for ...
Pros: 30mpg,good passing accelerartion, lots of storage room.reliable and safe.
Cons: frontseats to narrow, removing rear seats difficult to heavy.to much of a depriation.
06,pt auto.,base model, vanilla white,2.4 engine, from Canada,45,750 km.we needed a car with lots of cargo space and also the style was nice to our eyes. the brakes on this car are very good pedal fell is reassuring.this car as solid feeling when you ...
Pros: Excellent interior passenger room & cargo space. Performance in my GT is above expectations. Cons: Turning radius is to large for a car this size.
All panels, doors, hood, hatchback fit and align perfectly.
Love the overall lines of the car.I have had no issues with the body.Everything is way above my expectations for a car in this price range. The performance is fantastic, i have added a dual exhaust system by Borla and a K&N air filter, got about 15 more H.P.will soon be adding Mopar blow-off valve conversion kit and Mopar stage 1 turbo upgrade kit. All is bolt on, you don't have to go into the engine. I will have this done by my local Chrysler dealer, this protects the original warranty.i should have around 270 H.P. when all is done, i can't wait.
Pros: Affordable, decent on gas, drives smooth, looks cool. Great reliability. Cons: No anti-lock brakes.
My mother purchased the PT Cruiser standard edition from Carmax. The car was brand new with only 700 miles on it. She picked it up for $10,500. It came with a full warranty 36,000 or 3 years.
The car is perfect. It gets decent gas milage and you can fit alot of different sized items in the car. It's bigger than it looks "so to speak".
The 4 cylinder engine is fine on highways. It takes a little time to get up to speed, but, nothing like a GEO. I would highly recommend this car for anyone looking to get their money's worth out of a new or used car. It is fantastic.
I do not feel any sway driving at 80 mph and it rides smooth. Perfect for going to the beach or long trips. The seats fold up so you can fit large items in the car without a hassel.
Roomy back seat but oddly shaped front seat by benreaves ,Jan 31 '05
Pros: back seat good for tall people, easy access to back trunk Cons: narrow front seats, little leg room, the car feels cheap to the driver.
I rented one of these last weekend. I expected the back seat to be very easy for my elderly parents, tall and with weak knees, to get in and out. What I found was,
Back seat is great for tall people but not much leg room
Front seat is bad for wide people (not obese, but average-american width)
Driver position is for staring at the road: driver seat is too high. I didn't bump my head, but I had to open wide to see up a hill.
Door lock is inconvenient: the only keyhole is in the driver's door
No controls in the back seat for adjusting the rear windows -- they need to request the driver or passenger to push the switch.
Poor gas mileage, tight suspension.
Summary: for room and seat height, I recommend Toyota Matrix or the same car but cheaper: Pontiac Vibe.
Pros: Distinct style, roomy, not interior Cons: Minor problems
I love silver dashboard that matches my silver exterior color. The 'hatchback' opens up and the self moves to provide room to transport stuff. After all, PT stands for "Personal Transportation". I personally transported bicycle, golf club, 27" TV in a box and many more stuff without problem. If you would like roomy and stylish car, this is the choice. However, expect some minor problems, such as brake noise, shaking engine on low-quality gas. Enjoy cruising the road with this your own personal transportation.
Pros: Roomy interior, Price Cons: Better gas mileage would be nice, can't put snow chains on it
I just purchased a 2004 PT Cruiser. I missed out on the boom when they first came out and admit was not as enamored with it as the baby boomer set. Especially since I am in my early 20's. I am a first time buyer and I think I got my money's worth. I love the roominess of it especially since I will be going to grad school soon and will have to move. And I do appreciate it's quirkiness, those of my generation tend to lean toward Jetta, Honda Civic and cars of that sort. It could get better gas mileage, if they made that car in a hybrid it would be great!
Pros: The look, the ride, the money saved in gas Cons: none
The 2004 PT Cruiser is a great car. I recently bought one from a local Chrysler dealership. I had loved the look of the Cruiser from day one. After taking a test drive just for fun I knew that I had to have one. This car handles incredibly. It is a very smooth ride, great on gas, is very roomy, and can easily be rearranged for bigger loads. There are several colors and styles available and are very dependable cars. Great for anyone.
Pros: Lots of room, fast, fun. Cons: cant think of any
Owning one of these cars is like getting on the bumper cars at the fair. It is just fun to get in and drive. There is not anyway to discribe how much fun it is to drive this thing. You get a lot of looks and smiles from people. It is like a go cart for adults.
Chrysler should be ashamed of this gas mileage by tess112 ,Aug 27 '04
Pros: styling, fold-down seats Cons: gas mileage, low clearance from ground
This is the first American car we've bought, and while I like the PT Cruiser, I do not love it, and probably will not buy another one when the lease is up on this one. It rides well and I like the roominess inside, especially the way the seats fold down for additional hauling and storage in the back.
What I do not like is the low gas mileage. There's no reason why this car should only get BARELY 20 mph (if I'm lucky). It's not that big, not that heavy. It also sits pretty low to the ground, and I find I scrape the bottom front bumper of the car on almost any little bump in the road, including most curbs leading into driveways. Forget about speed bumps: you have to crawl across them to not bump at all.
My husband was so excited to buy this car. Then he was in an accident with it. Normal highway speeds and he over corrected the vehicle. He smashed into something and there was nothing left of the car. My husband did not make it either. The worst thing abouth this car other than the car will not survive a crash is that they put the OH CRAP bar on the driver side. That is what ultimately killed my husband. When i saw the car it looked like a mini cooper and the front tire was inside the engine block. If I could sue the makers for the idiotic things they put inside the car I would. Dont buy this car. I am just thankful that my daughter was not inside the car as well or I would have lost them both. I call this car a death trap now when ever i see them and warn everyone.
