2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible - Great Style with Some Compromise

by bassdudenine , Sep 21 '05
Pros: Great Style, Image, and all that jazz
Cons: No power, many rattles/shakes, but hey! You look good!
I purchased a 2004 Sebring Convertible about a month ago (it’s now September of 2005). Let me share with you various pros and cons concerning this automobile. Pros: Style. The car is gorgeous. Period. Both exterior and interior styling are ...

Warning: 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible

by soccerbudd , Oct 28 '04
Pros: Great exterior design. Attractive and sleek instrument panel. Wonderful sound system.
Cons: Everything with the car w/ the exception of the seats and the Pros mentioned above.
Today's date is 10/25/04, and I purchased my 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible LX on August 28th, 2003. In just over a year, the car's accrued a ton of problems and annoyances. Not only was the buying experience at the Chrysler dealership a joke, but ...

2004 Chrysler Sebring: Sure it's a Convertible, but is it Cool?

by lambchops Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Apr 26 '04
Pros: Convertible top, cute exterior...
Cons: Not reliable, very scant on trunk space, no power, not reliable, bad stereo...
It only made sense to rent a convertible while on vacation in Florida. With little choice in models, I settled for a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. Simply put, the car looks great from the outside but is severely lacking when it comes to power, ...

Good Looks and very reliable

by azgldnfire , Apr 25 '04
Pros: Great looks, Very roomy where it counts. comfortable seats, good price.
Cons: 4 cyl Isn't really enough for the size of the car.
I have had my Chrysler Sebring convertible now for three months. except for a rattle under the car caused by a misplaced exhaust (The Dealer fixed right away) and a parking stick that I sometimes have to take extra effort to ensure that it has properly ...

2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible...had it 4 years...LOVE IT!!!
by ahtram ,Jan 21 '09
Pros: Great gas mileage.  Lots of power to get onto highway (28-30 mpg) hwy.
Cons: Had wind noise but agency replaced rubber door gaskets and noise is gone.  Agency terrific
I just love the body styling of this car.  The paint is georgous light silver green metallic.  Dark grey cloth seats are comfortable.  Headrests easy to adjust.   Black top is attractive and easy to clean.  It goes up and down so quickly I often do it at the traffic light.  You can keep the top down when it is lightly raining because of the design of the windshield...the rain just goes up and over.  Bought it with 14k miles and paid $18k.
We do lots of Rocky Mt driving.  The 3rd gear prevents braking.  The cruise downshifts for smaller hills.  I love this car.

Everything is Just Adequate
by jason1977 ,Jun 03 '05
Pros: style, fun, drive/ride
Cons: Slow, inferior soundsystem
I also grew up in a family with a convertible and have always wanted one since. I finally got my way about 4 months ago. I found an 04 silver sebring convertible, base model, at an outstanding price. I do love my car. The ride and drive are both very nice. Perhaps it is because I only purchased a base model, or maybe all models are like this, but it seems like while everything is really nice, nothing is outstanding. The sound system is great, but i can't bump it up quite loud enough sometimes when the top is down. It is somewhat peppy, but a real dog in comparison to most other cars, especially for a car that only 16K miles ago was $25K+.

How do you screw up a convertible? Read this, I'll tell you!
by pkbites ,Nov 28 '04
Pros: Good looking inside & out, loaded to the gills1
Cons: Wimpy 6 cyl. engine!
There's nothing cooler than zipping down the road in a convertible with the top down. Especially when it's loaded to the gills with everything: premium sound, heated/cooled seats, gps, Italian gauges, etc., etc..
The Sebring has it all. So why does it suck so bad?
Well, first of all, taller drivers like myself will have problems seeing through the windshield when the top is up.
The visor bracket and roof latches really obstruct the view.
Also, the AUTO-STICK feature is totally gay. It's not like driving a stick shift at all. Look people, either buy an automatic, or buy a standard tranny. Don't fall for the Auto-Stick thing. It's stupid.
The #1 problem with this car is, the sissy-wimp engine. It has got to have the wussiest 6 cylinder I've ever know. I've driven cars with 4 bangers that would have blown this thing away. This car is slower than molasses. Well, maybe it's faster than molasses, but it's no match for ketchup!!

Sharp car
by houdini987 ,Nov 02 '04
Pros: Style, comfy seats, full-size back seat, uses reg. gas
Cons: Steering /suspension not as responsive as a sports car
For a mid to full-size convertible, the Sebring is the best buy unless you can afford a luxury model like an M3.

I traded in my Eclipse Spyder after about 4 years because I could just feel a major repair coming (those who are very in-tune with their cars know what I'm talking about).

Anyways, I got a '04 Sebring convertible and have to say I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Whether or not that changes in 12-24 months, time will tell. I've seen negative reports on the reliability of this car, but I look at those things with a skeptical eye, and you should too.

The fact of the matter is, every situation is different.

The power compared to my Spyder is much lower, but I consciously chose a lower horsepower car this time around in order to gain gas mileage. If you're looking for a racecar, this one isn't for you, but if you're looking for a comfortable, sporty, affordable convertible, I'd say look at the Sebring.

Love the sun!
by solberg ,Dec 28 '03
Pros: I highly recommend the autostick, it's just fun!
Cons: Fairly large blind spot to the right rear.
When I was a 16-year-old kid, my dad bought a 1970 Barracuda convertible and I found the car irresistable. As a 48-year-old, I wasn't sure a convertible would hold the same allure as it did decades before. Boy, was I wrong. I bought a 2004 sapphire blue, Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited in August and have loved every moment of my top-down fun in the sun. Now that winter has arrived, I'm finding the top to be tight-fitting, with few rattles. It is also beautifully crafted on the inside and out. I really like the inner liner that hides all the braces and supports.

This car is fun to drive. It has plenty of pick up and the ride is soft, yet it still handles well. It is just a joy to drive. It makes my dad's old Barracuda seem like a dinosaur by comparison.

This is a truly beautiful car, inside and out, with the most comfortable seats I've felt in an American car and stunning woodgrain interior. It turns heads everywhere I go, top up or down. But especially with the top down, it is pure pleasure to experience.

Great Car!
by sargeh2o ,Oct 15 '03
Pros: A terrific buy, and an even better car... fun, stylish, practical.
Cons: Smaller trunk space than the sedan.
This has been a wonderful car. We bought the LXI, Deep Sapphire Blue with Sandstone cloth top and Sandstone leather interior.

Having always wanted a convertible and living in the mid-west, owning a ragtop can be a matter of "wants vs needs", this car serves both.

Room for 4, front wheel drive, great looks, comfort, reliability, shall I go on?

Test drive one... you'll see.
