2004 Dodge Stratus

I really cant find a lot to gripe about in this car!
The interior is very roomy especially so when compared to the previous vehicle we had (00 Grand Am)
The 2.4 DOHC engine has plenty of pep while still maintaining a respectful 23-25 mpg! But this is a new engine not broken in yet and I expect that to get better.
The fit and finish of the body panels are good and the actual interior noise level may be just a tad high but considering some of the pavement finishes not all that bad!

The only thing I wish I could change would be a slight noise from the transmission.The noise is a characteristic "604" drive/driven gear link noise ex..a slightly annoying whine.Other than that it fits our needs perfectly. Maybe Daimler Chrysler is headed in the right direction!

I love my '02 Durango so when I started searching for a coupe that I could commute with for a year or so and then hand it off to my daughter, another Dodge appealed to me. I was looking for a 4-cylinder that looked cool. The Stratus looks great, the cabin is comfortable and I'm getting 30mpg on the highway - but the engine noise and handling are a big disappointment. My Durango can handle circles (literally) around the Stratus. The 4-cylinder has some pep on the highway, but is noisy (particularly at startup.) I should have spent a little more and purchased a Honda (or similar.)

One major disappointment - the steering wheel is a 3-grip, "T" style - with the bottom grip in the center of the wheel. This makes the Stratus VERY uncomfortable to drive on any trip longer than 1 hour due to the fact that you can't let your hands/arms rest in your lap and steer at the same time.
