Pros: Great looks, good ride, easy to drive, excellent controls, good price, Onstar. Cons: Rear seats don't fold completely flat.
After an extensive search for a new vehicle that included test driving Lexus RX330, Nissan Murano and Chevy Trailblazer, we decided to buy a GMC Envoy SLT, 4 wheel drive with all options except for navigation. The leather interior is done in two tones ...

Pros: Style, value, inexpensive, luxury, build quality, features...most comfortable SUV I've ever been in. Cons: Gas mileage, American manufacturer reputation, depreciation (only if you buy new!).

'04 GMC Envoy - Tribute (Escape) owner trading up
by paulbritton ,Aug 07 '04
Pros: Outstanding ride. Luxurious interior & features. Powerful I-6 engine. Cons: Thirsty. 15~16 mpg. Little spongy on the brake pedal
My 1st SUV was a Mazda Tribute (sister to Ford Escape). I liked this vehicle a lot. Good quality, features, very carlike on the road, and surprisingly capable off-road, despite what you hear. No, it wasn't a boulder climber, but I took it on some pretty rugged stuff.
But I wanted something bigger, with a low range gear box & a locking differential. I chose the GMC Envoy. I'm having the optional skidplate package added so I'll be ready for even more offroading.
Onroad it's a delight. WAY more power than the Tribute, despite the added size & weight. Pretty good handling, not quite like the Mazda, but good.
Overall, my wife continually compares the luxury to our 2000 BMW 328CI. She is very, very impressed with the ride quality of the Envoy, the interior and the luxury features.
