Pros: Longest warranty in the market, no major recalls Cons: Overcoming old reputation for "junkiness"
I bought this car as an Xmas present for my wife. We already own a '99 Accent and had no complaints except that it was getting small as the kids grow. We originally bought the Accent because of we could take the dealer to the cleaners due to a ...
Pros: Many standard features, especially side air bags. Cons: Foul smell when you first turn on air conditioner (same as in the Accent)
I had a black 2 door 2003 Hyundai Accent for about a year, which I loved, but it was just a little too small. I upgraded to a black 4 door 2004 Elantra and love it even more! Everyone knows about the great warranty that Hyundai provides, so that is ...
Pros: Value. Nothing else can touch it there.
Sound system
Stowage space Cons: Thin paint
Could use 10-15 more horses
requires Tiburon sway bar for 'spirited' driving
I have a confession to make. I drive a Hyundai... two of them, since 2001 - the first car I owned was a 1995 Sonata that I bought with 98,998 miles on it the month I graduated from college. That happened to be the same month that the first Elantra GT ...
Pros: Still drives like a small car, but is really a family sized vehicle. Cons: 2 years later, still can't think of one. Warranty is about to run out?
This website really helped me while shopping, so I thought I'd return the favour. I ended up buying a Hyundai Elantra VE after looking at a Kia (new car that felt like a used car) and a Pontiac Sunfire. I'd driven a Cavalier before so the Sunfire was ...
Pros: Smooth and solid road manners, high-quality interior, generous feature content, bargain price, great warranty. Cons: Stinky new-car smell, mediocre resale value and safety ratings, not as refined as class leaders.
My Experience I test drove a Hyundai Elantra GT 5-speed sedan at a local dealership. My test drive lasted about twenty minutes and covered city streets and the freeway. Performance The Elantra's engine fell a bit short of the ...
Pros: Stylish, sporty, reliable economy car at an excellent price. Cons: Resale value depreciates a lot faster than other car-makers.
A few years back I started to notice that Hyundai wasn't making the junky econoboxes I grew up with. Back then, buying a Hyundai was paramount to living in a trailer park; everybody knew you must have been struggling to not be able to afford something ...
This Hyundai is for real. You get a lot for your $14,500 - leather, Kenwood CD/MP3 player, sunroof, etc... (in the GT). The engine is responsive - not a barn burner but with great gas mileage. Very comfortable - large back seat for a car of this class. Fit and finish is very good. Reliability has greatly improved. If looking at a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, give the Hyundai Elantra a look.
Pros: A ton of standard features & a great warranty Cons: none...i love this car. absolutely no problems.
Definitely get the 5 speed GT Hatchback. It's amazing what you get standard in this car at this price. The ride is quiet and smooth. Plenty of horsepower and fun to drive. This car is a steal. A must see for sure if your looking at cars under 20k. You can get one of these for around 12,500 after rebates. I was considering a Mazda 3 but they couldn't touch the deal I got from Hyundai. You get soo much more for your money with the Elantra GT.
Pros: Smooth and solid road manners, high-quality interior, generous feature content, bargain price, great warranty. Cons: Not as good as JAPANESE from the '70s but better than GM.
Well after a year and 16000 mile of use.The car held up well.I have one that bugs me certain spot on the trunk interor isn't complete painted eg, trunk hinge you see the praimer spots and in the spare tire well.My 1970 Datsun 510 &'77 Toyota corolla were painted with upmost quailty.I never once a factory preimer spot in the trunk space.Well, Japan builds better car anyways. As a matter of fact I still drive the 510 and corolla.
Other than that it a great car.
Great Car and Great Price by cmtmj2003 ,Feb 08 '04
Pros: Powerful engine, Quiet ride and many standard accessories Cons: None
I have had this car for one week. I must to say I am impressed with the quality. It handles well and is rather quiet. The engine makes quite a bit less noise than my old neon. In many ways this car reminds me of my old Ford Contour. The gas mileage is what you would expect of a car this size, 26/32. I took the extended warranty because my old neon was in the shop for almost every problem you can think up. Yes it did need two head gaskets. Customer service was excellent. Better than our local Saturn dealership. This is not the same Hyundai I knew 18 years ago. Much more refined. If they keep it up, they will give Honda a run for their money.
Pros: Peppy engine. Nice build quality. Great customer service. Cons: Automakers still offer Tape Players???
My 1991 Honda Accord finally got too expensive to repair. I decided to do some research on a new car and the Elantra caught my eye. I went on a test drive with a 5-Speed model and bought it the same day. I love this car!
Problem
So far, the only problem I have had was getting rear-ended by some jerk on I-75 in Dallas one morning. The bumper and trunk lid were damaged, but the rest of the car was ok. I took it to the dealer (Freeman Hyundai of Irving TX) to be repaired. I must say the repair looks like new. I am very satisfied with this car and would recommend it to anyone looking for something under $20,000.
Pros: style, comfort, quiet Cons: just recovering from a bad reputation in the 80s
All I can say is Honda better watch out for companies like Hyundai and Kia who are producing good quality, stylish, and good value cars. I have a 2004 Elantra GT that is great. I wasn't crazy about getting a Hyundai, but after I drove it, and compared it to a Corolla, Civc, Focus, it won me over. I just wish it got a little better gas mileage, but 32 hwy is not bad. Korean companies have already proven that they can make high quality products in other sectors, like electronics (LG,Samsung) and household appliances. I see them breaking into the automotive sector too....so watch out!
I LOVE My Hyundai! A Great Car. by okbound ,Oct 27 '04
Pros: Great Price, Safety Features, and Warranty. A Great Ride. Cons: Non--Extremely Satisfied.
I was a little hesitant about buying a Hyundai, but the price was right so we went to the Hyundai Dealership and test drove numerous cars, including used cars, Hyundai's and Kia's. We settled on the Hyundai Elantra and I am extremely pleased that we did. This is a great car! The inside is just as nice as Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's and includes more safety features than my neighbor's Volvo. The Elantra has great interior room (my husband is 6'2) and the trunk is HUGE! The customer service at my Hyundai dealership is great and the Hyundai warranty is super. I could not be happier with this car. The Elantra drives as smooth as my Mother's Cadillac! If you are looking for a great family car, with all the bells and whistles and safety features, check out the Hyundai Elantra! Now if Hyundai would only make a convertible...
Drives well but cheap materials by hebrewcatholic ,Aug 13 '04
Pros: Good price for the money and features offered. Cons: Poor quality of materials and workmanship. Poor customer service.
I have had my Elantra for seven months. It drives well but I have had a few problems the company refuses to fix. The rubber seal around the drivers door is ripped and torn. The company says that is normal use and refused to fix it. Normal use after seven month? Also there is a black strip on the drivers side that is chipping bad, and they gave me the same excuse. That is normal use. I have had a Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla. The Elantra drives as nice as those cars, but the materials are much cheaper and the service at Honda and Toyota much better. They were willing to work with the customer, but Hyundai refuses to help me. Although I like things about this car, due to the cheap materials and poor service I would not buy another one. Honda and Toyota have better quality and service.
