This is a great car. My wife and I were looking at a cheap economical car to supplement our Expedition. We did not expect to find this much car for so little. On 2/09/2004 we purchased a 2004 GLS V6 with a power moonroof for 15,999. This car is loaded. Consumer reports ranks Hyundai tied for second with Honda in quality behind Toyota. Not to mention the 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain, 5 year 60,000 mile warranties. Dont forget the 5 year unlimited miles roadside assistance.

Pros: Price, comfort, driver room, luxury level, WARRANTY, ergonomics. SAFETY FEATURES! Great car!
Cons: I had to think hard but it's a little cramped for a rear-facing child seat.

I just purchased the new 2004 Sonata LX and I can tell that the engineers at Hyundai have been reading past reviews. If you read back through all the cons for the Sonata here on Epinions, they have addressed them all, some more successfully than others. I absolutely love this car. For the price you will not find another vehicle that offers so much. It is roomy, especially in the front, the trunk is much bigger than in the past and the rear seats fold down. I would suggest this car to anyone.
** 12Feb04-- Update- Unfortunately I just totaled my new Sonata. It was my fault (fell asleep at the wheel) not the cars. The good thing is that even though I was traveling fast and hit a big boulder that didn't even budge, I came out without a scratch. The airbag deployed and I was belted in. I am impressed with the vehicles safety features first hand now. P.S. - I pick up my new, new Sonata today (insurance is a good thing).

Pros: All of the included options and style for the price.(Value)
Cons: The Horn sound is Cheap, which does not go with this car.

Once you look at the styling for the Hyundai Sonata, and check out the long list of included options and warranty for the price, you will want to test drive it to see if this could be true.
The controls are laid out simply, and easy to access. The acceleration is not bad for the 4-cylinder, and a little better for the 6-cylinder, which you will sacrifice a few M.P.G's for.
The vehicle is a decent ride, but don't confuse it with a large luxury car, but is is not an escort either, only the price tag is.
The only reason not to buy one is you can afford not to care about value, only the emblem status on the hood.
One year later (08-29-05) 2 oil changes and an air filter. No problems.

Pros: Safety, warranty, elegant body style.

I had a Pontiac Fire bird before this car. I was really worried about the pick up and speed, however, my V6 is very comparable, though not turbo-charged. This car rides incredibly smooth. The gas mileage is similar to my Fire bird, but I also drive my cars pretty hard. The seats are comfortable, and I love the lower back support. The trunk space is huge! The folding down seats are also very convenient. This car has great safety features and is ideal for families. The warranty is unbeatable!!!

This is a great car. We were "looking" while having our oil changed at the dealership and didn't even mean to buy a new car that day, but when we saw it, we traded vehicles! It looks great and I've had many people say it looks very expensive-but it's not! My 3 year old loves it! Hyundai has a great waranty, but after owning 2 other Hyundai's besides the Sonata, we've never had a major problem with a Hyundai.

The Hyundai 2004 Sonata is a beautiful car. It is a sturdy, solid, heavy car. It provides space (cockpit, interior, and trunk) and luxury. It is reliable. It provides a pleasant ride (smooth driving, comfortable seats, minimal noise, great sound system...). Great warranty... I love everything about this car.

While this car has not been in our possession for long, it has been used for multiple long drives already. Upon purchase, the car was brought home over 1,100 miles from point of sale. The car has been humming, and has instilled in us a great deal of confidence about the ongoing stability / reliability of this automobile.

We've measured fuel efficiency to be at about 28 mpg on the highway.
