  • 2004 Kia Rio- Is a 100% improvement enough?

    Jan 09 '04
    Pros: Improved power, Warranty, Price.
Cons: Noisy, Power steering is still not standard, Acceleration still needs to be improved.

Summary: Since its introduction back in '00 the Kia Rio has always been on my cars-to-avoid list and for good reason. The Rio Sedan may have boasted the cheapest base price tag on the market when it made its debut, however the Rio's small price tag came with ... read more

Summary: I bought a Cinco new in Sept. 2004. I  should have suspected something when 2 days after purchase, the sunglasses holder literally fell apart in my hand. 2 months later they cut the price in half to sell that year's model. I was shortly to be shown ... read more

  • KIA RIO Sedan is plain awesome!

    Nov 10 '08
Pros: Looks, dependable, functionality, cost of maintenance, ease of maintenance, great design.
Cons: Automotive bigots do not like it. Their loss, my gain.

Summary: I purchased my 2004 Kia Rio used from a used auto lot for $5,000 USD. I've built and had 67/68 Ford Mustangs and even a 74 Midget, so I feel fairly competant about the machinations of cars. Upon inspection I was surprised how well put together the car ... read more

  • Good First Car, Great Gas Mileage, Small Electrical Probs

    Jun 14 '07
Pros: Gas mileage, roomy, stereo, power locks & windows that come standard
Cons: Poor paint quality, electrical issues

Summary: After driving my parents Chevy Impala for a few years, this was my first car. Initially, I was in love with it - despite Kia's reputation it really was a better car than the price would suggest. No, it is not a power machine or anything for a real auto ... read more

  • From the mouth of a living "crash test dummy"

Pros: Mileage, price and it also looks “cute”...
Cons: Made of tinfoil... possibly explains the cheap price.

Summary: Just call me “Buster” (from the Mythbusters that is) I had my Rio for just over a year, almost a year and a half before it met its demise… with me still in it! Not only can I tell you about features of the car, but you’ll also get a first-hand ... read more

  • Such a better option than purchasing used

Pros: - Inexpensive to purchase - Inexpensive to maintain - Good gas mileage
Cons: - Doesn't earn respect (if this is how you get it)

Summary: I read one review on here that mentioned purchasing a new car for that "new car smell". What motivated me to purchase new for the first time in '04 was the realization that people really don't maintain things, they just replace them. I had a bad ... read more

Summary: My husband purchased the 2004 Kia Rio as a quick replacement for our Suzuki Esteem, which was rear-ended, and declared a total loss by the at-fault driver’s insurance company. He chose the car based on price, availability and a cash-back offer. If we ... read more
