Pros: Price, great design, comfort, style Cons: mediocre gas mileage
I'm not a "gearhead"; I don't know much about cars, from a mechanical point of view. I can only write a review about the car's practical use and how it feels to drive the thing. But when it comes to minivans, I think that's pretty much what a shopper ...

Pros: Good price, good warranty, very decent minivan. Cons: High gas mileage
I'm not a car expert but wanted to share our experience with our 2004 Kia Sedona LX minivan, which we bought new in March of 2004. The price is of course the most attractive part, and at around $18,000 at the time was much less than any other new ...

Pros: Economical purchase price. Solid built. Quiet and smooth ride. Excellent interior and the size. Cons: So so gas mileage which I am willing to accept.
I needed a minivan for my wife and I had fairly OK experience with my 97 KIA Sephia(I am still driving it) so that I was not afraid to buy a Korean car. I was not sure if I needed a new car for my Sephia is doing just fine. It still looks like a new and ...

Pros: So far it does not suck Cons: How did it come to this, me, in a minivan?
NEGATIVE CONSUMER REPORTS REVIEW IS MISLEADING: I was thumbing through the current thick consumer reports reviews The Kia Seodna receives a half-filled black circle, the next to worst rating. But this bottom line review is MISLEADING. Because if you ...

Pros: Great Price and Warranty in its class! Cons: Fold down seats would be nice
I used Epinions.com to do some of my research before buying our Kia a little over a year ago. Between the price and the warranty, we couldn't beat a better deal. We got a loaded Kia (leather seats, DVD player, roof rack, auto, etc) for a little more than ...

Quality is poor
by aprack ,May 05 '05
Pros: Looks pretty and rides nice. Cons: Gas mileage is lower than expected and the quality is poor.
The quality of this car has been the worst of any car I have owned. We have had problems with the headlights, overhead lights, automatic locks, air intake hose and rearview mirror. The review mirror fell off the windshield twice and the second time it took part of the glass with it. We have never done any more than adjust the mirror for different drivers. Kia refuses to fix the windshield claiming that we had to have exerted undue force for that to happen. The air intake hose had to be ordered and it took three days for the part to arrive. The car only has 40,000 miles on it and it has been in for repairs more than any vehicle I have ever owned. To add insult to injury, Kia won't supply a loaner car while they keep you car either. I will never buy a Kia again.

Happy Sedona customer, would recommend.
by flxstr ,Dec 10 '04
Pros: - Features, features features features....
- rain-sensing wipers
- huge carpet mats
Cons: - heavy seats
- no power doors
- doors don't lock automatically when driving
Bought our Kia minivan EX end of October. Happy to report to-date that we've had no problems to-date, and are quite pleased with it.
Our previous minivan was a 1994 Dodge Caravan, which had put in many miles, and was nearing its end. So, off to the Dodge dealer we went, where we were less than impressed with the newer more expensive models (which felt quite gutless even with a 3.3v6 engine).
We stopped by the KIA dealership on a whim, the salesperson was very nice, and downright honest, which was a nice change. The KIA comes with lots of nice features in this model such as captains chairs in the middle, auto rainsensing wipers (good for Vancouver), extra power adapters, comfortable seats, and a good gutsy motor.
Gas mileage is a little low, but no worse than our 94 Caravan, so I'm not complaining. So, overall, I'd recommend.

Good car and great price!
by jimles1 ,Dec 15 '04
Pros: The kia has sedona has an impressive engine. Good power! Cons: The Kia is heavy so the gas mileage is lower than I would have thought.
We are very happy with our Kia. We've had it for a year and 24,000 miles later is still feels like we just drove it off the lot. You can't go wrong for the value.

Bad experience with Kia
by ojos ,Apr 07 '05
Pros: Great warranty, seemingly good value. Cons: Customer service when things really begin to go wrong with your car is abysmal.
Faulty break system in LX base model. Front rotors and rear drums warp causing heavy break pulsation while slowing from highway speeds. Potential for brake failure. Kia, despite 5 repair attempts and 42 day of having vehicle, was unable to fix braking system despite complete brake replacement. This suggests an inherent flaw in braking system resulting in uneven wear of breaking surfaces (rotors and drums). All vehicles of this model type at dealership where I bought this vehicle had same braking flaw. Kia settled with owner outside of Lemon Law arbitration through the BBB. Upon receiving vehicle, representative from Kia made clear the company's intentions to sell vehicle in Ca. Very dishonest and unconcerned with customer safety.

2004 Kia Sedona
by afrazzano ,May 06 '04
Pros: Maybe not the best minivan, but certainly the best minivan value. Cons: Could use a few upscale options, i.e. seats folding into the floor.
The inexpensive Kia Sedona is an excellent value, combining a first-class 5-speed transmission with a more than adequate 3.5L DOHC engine. Smooth and powerful are the words that come to mind. Having owned four previous minivans (1986 Voyager, 1991 Grand Caravan, 1995 and 1998 Windstars), I have had enough engine and transmission worries. Steering and handling were good for a minivan that functions around town and on the highway at reasonable speeds. Certainly, a 17" wheel with oversize tires option might be worthwhile at some point. In a trip with a full load from Boston to Virginia, the brake pedal did make me feel I had to hit it harder than I first anticipated, but with ABS a "must option", I became acclimated quickly and didn't feel it was a problem. The long trip was comfortable with the EX's power adjustable seats, sunroof and CD player. I like the control layout and general quality of the interior, including second row captain's seats. Gas mileage was not bad either with a 70% to 30% ratio of highway to city driving, I got 23.4 mpg. Not great but acceptable...although with rising gas prices, you decide.

Bad reliability - Do not buy one
by echmiel ,Jun 26 '06
Pros: Cheap. Safe. Cons: Unreliable. bad gas mileage
I guess the Kia is a case of you get what you pay for. While it seems like you get a lot for your money, it really means squat if you car has to be in the shop. I have repeatly had the speedometer fail and the check engine light come on, and the car runs like crap when this happens.
It is now going on week 4 (thats right, FOUR WEEKS IN THE SHOP!). I would like that month of car payments back.
The kicker for me is that several Southern Calif. dealers closed. Now I have to travel a great distance to get to the shop. Very inconvinient to say the least. They wont bring me home, "too far" they say. Does that suck or what?
Plus the shop is a comibined Chevy dealer (Fullerton). First time there I picked up the car, and IT WAS NOT FIXED.
