Pros: Lexus, Luxury, Gadgets, Back-up Camera, Plush ride, Ride-height, Snow/Rain prowess Cons: Back gets dirty fast, Causes a desire to driver farther
After a terrible experience with a Honda Odyssey (what a tin can), I decided it was a mistake to buy a non-Lexus vehicle after 2 previous ones (1994 ES300, 1999 RX300). If you are looking for Lexus comforts in an unstoppable vehicle or just like SUVs, ...

Pros: Comfort, safety, quality, luxury status, gadgets, lexus name and support Cons: low gas mileage, needs slightly larger stock tyres to fill wheel arch
I was looking for a comfortable SUV for my wife and 2 small children that had the 3 row seat for occasional trips with friends. I considered the MDX and GX470 closely after eliminating the others like X5/ML320/PILOT/4Runner/Sequoia etc. We had the las ...

Pros: -Design
-Luxury off road
-3rd row option
-Voice Nav Cons: -No Hid Xenon available
-No In dash CD
-3rd row space
I also purchased a 2004 GX470, however unlike the other reviewer above.. I rarely base any large amount purchase on just Ad's or word of mouth. I would suggest to the other buyer, that perhaps its not the Lexus but rather his/her own preferences that ...

Pros: Smooth ride, comfortable interior. Cons: lexus customer service, levinson cd player
I currently own a GX470, GS430, RX300, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Land Cruiser. I never had a problem with any of my cars but when I got the GX470, the Mark Levinson CD player never worked properly from day one. My GX currently has 5,300 miles on it. I ...

Lexus GX-470 - An Over Priced Toyota 4Runner
by snow_cop ,Mar 16 '04
Pros: Nice exterior styling Cons: Poor/Dangerous 3rd row seating, extremely sensitive brakes, harsh ride for SUV, unstable climate control
In December 2003 I purchased a new (2004) GX-470. This was my first Lexus and the purchase decision was based upon the companys reputation and extensive marketing efforts, which portray the companys vehicles as examples of cutting edge engineering excellence.
I have purchased numerous new vehicles in the past 30 years, including four luxury SUVs, prior to the GX-470. I do not ever recall being so dissatisfied with a new vehicle as I am with my GX-470. The GX-470 is very poorly designed in many areas, ranging from antiquated rear seat folding systems, to excessively sensitive brakes. The vehicle also lacks many of the common luxury features available on common vehicles like the Ford Expedition.
I have brought my concerns about the car to the attention of the service department of my local dealership. A service consultant told me candidly; ...this vehicle is not one of our better products.
Is there any reason why I should alter my opinion that Lexus is selling an over-priced Toyota 4-Runner through the apparently fictitious Lexus Quality Image?

Great Truck
by mybmyer ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: Acceleration, Smooth/quiet ride, Nav system Cons: Third row convenience, no blue tooth, cd changer location
After looking at several SUV's we decided to go with the GX. After a full year we are as happy with it as the day we purchased it. The ride is smooth as day 1 and I would certainly purchase it all over again

A real nice ride
by wbmartin3 ,Feb 04 '07
Pros: Tight steering, mpg, road noise, heat distribution Cons: No interior rear door handle, drink holder could be higher to prevent spillage
The Lexus GX 470 has a nice, tight steering, decent (18-19 mpg) mileage. We bought ours used on eBay for just under $27,000, but they seem to price much higher. So far, with just around 95,000 miles, we are pleasantly surprised.
Ours has the optional 3rd row seating. Heating is quick and efficient.
