I said I'd likely buy one; why I did not

by mkaresh mkaresh is a Lead on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Nov 17 '03
Pros: Performance, handling, refinement, room, comfort, styling
Cons: Shifter, seats (especially cloth), loose around the elbows, ultimately just didn't turn me on
A year ago I drove the four-cylinder Mazda 6i with a manual and the six-cylinder 6s with an automatic. The car I really wanted to drive, a five-speed 6s, was not available. These ended up being in short supply throughout the year, an odd situation as ...

Mazda's sensible sport sedan, the 6S

by NFP , Mar 23 '04
Pros: Value for money, zippy-ness factor, excellent lease incentives, good consumer and trade publication reviews.
Cons: You give up some materials quality with this much car for so good a price.
Update note on 5/16/06: Two years and 31,000 miles in, pretty much everything I wrote below almost 2 years ago still stands. The car has run very well, and there have been no ongoing problems of any consequence to speak of. The only major problem ...

After 24 used cars this was my first new one!

by epinionated Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Dec 08 '04
Pros: Value, healthy 220 HP V6, decent handling, Great styling inside and out
Cons: Mass-produced, leading to many "twin" encounters. Side air-bags NOT standard equipment.
Well, finally, after owning 24 used cars - usually cool ones like Porsche 911s, BMW M3, Corvette, etc. - I decided it was time for a nice (new) family sedan. First Impressions: With involvement (and utter domination) in many regional and ...

Pros: Great package at a great price.
Not a cookie cutter car!
87 octane
Cons: Slight throttle lag
Stereo not upgradeable
Not a huge aftermarket support -if one cares(yet)
I had been doing quite a bit of web reading on what my next vehicle would be. I was driving a 95 Grand Am and also own a 91 Olds Calais Quad442. The Olds is/was a weekend project and the GA was the daily driver (I do a lot of driving for work). Both ...

by donwa7 , Dec 16 '04
Pros: Handling; V6 power; Smooth ride; Comfortable seats; 17" wheels; Intake/exhaust sound
Cons: Longish turn radius; Overboosted steering; Annoying resonance when bass is loud; Lame name
I purchased my 2004 Mazda 6s just after Thanksgiving, and I already have 1300 miles on it. Engine - The 3.0l Duratec engine is well matched to this vehicle, and Mazda has done an excellent job tuning it for this application. Basically, this is the ...

Stylish And Exciting Sports Sedan

by rustybawl , Mar 03 '04
Pros: Sporty, Available 5-spd Manual V6, Powerful, Quiet, Fun, Large Cockpit, Lower$ Than Accord/Camry
Cons: No Rear Headrests (Sedan), Integrated Center Console, Throttle Lag, Brake Dust, Crowded Engine Bay
Mazda designers are taking huge strides in the right direction in regards to the styling of their vehicles. I was always indifferent to Mazda vehicles, the 626 was rather bland, the Millenia was nice but overpriced, and the Protege was nice for a ...

Mazda6 at 13,000 miles

by jeffrulz , Aug 11 '05
Pros: Nice looking, fun to drive, good power, nice handling.
Cons: Inferior quality materials all around, questionble long-term reliability, and poor gas mileage.
I own a 2004 Mazda6 Sport Wagon, with the 220-hp V6 and 5 Speed tiptronic automatic. My previous car was a 2000 Toyota Camry. In terms of driving fun, the Mazda is way ahead of the Camry, which I thought was the most boring car in the world to drive. ...

by toyfigure , Sep 01 '04
Pros: Style. Engine. Bose sound system with subwoofer and a 6 CD changer.
Cons: Shifter position is a little awkward, specially in 2nd and 4th (my right shoulder 'tuck-in').
Bought the Mazda6 V6s on August 27, 2004 (Friday). Took delivery at around 7pm and thus didn't even notice that the right front fender and part of the passenger side door's color was off (the one I bought was the Glacier Silver Metallic)...not until the ...

This Is Best Served With ALL The Whistles and Bells!
by digitalduck ,Feb 02 '07
Pros: The Traction Control System Does A GREAT JOB!
Cons: The Steering Radius takes a little time to get used to.
We have the 2004 Mazda6 - 6 cylinder with the Sports and Luxury packages

Sure! It was a bit more to begin with; but WELL WORTH IT!

You get the sporty look with the leather trim interior.

My wife likes the heated seats and I like zip and go that this car has (tried the 4 cyl. - not something I wanted my wife to drive).

... and when it comes to Mazda Safety Features: It still seems to be up to snuff with the days when it was an import!

Between the braking system and traction control system - this car is good for the less experienced drivers!

It seems as though Mazda made the steering safer for those who may over correct in an adverse situation. This makes it a little less friendly in tight shopping center parking lots. All this means is that you have to swing a little wider it pop into a space! .... NO BIG DEAL!

I love my Mazda 6 diesel !
by philipsi ,Jan 18 '05
Pros: looks, interior,
Cons: sensitive plastics on interior
Just bought a Mazda 6 estate diesel, it is a 2liter engine, 120bhp and 320Nm of torque.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the interior plastics are very sensitive to scratches, even if you touch it with a carton box while loading stuff, you risk scratching the plastic, besides that GREAT car.

In Love with My Car!
by strmlvr ,Sep 12 '04
Pros: Sporty, sleek, fun, roomy!
Cons: Brake dust, brake dust, brake dust! Do other cars have this problem?
I have had this car for a little over a month and I love it. This is my 4th Mazda and I have always had terrific luck with them. I love absolutely everything about this car (by far the nicest one I've ever owned) except for one minor thing. Brake dust! My car is the Mazda 6i,redfire with the beige luxury package, sports package and the Bose audio package. I had the dealer put a moonroof in mine since that is a must for me. Have I mentioned that I LOVE MY CAR! There is storage in the dash, glove box and console with lots of room in the trunk. The back seat is comfortable. (I actually let my husband drive and rode 350 miles in the back) The Bose speakers kick butt! This 4 cylinder has lots of get up and go.

Mazda 6i awesome, sporty, practical
by bwinstead82 ,May 31 '04
Pros: ride, comfort, steering wheel controls, styling.
Cons: brake dust.
I just recently purchased a 2004 mazda 6i series with the 4 cylinder and 4 speed auto-stick transmission. I also had the sport appearance package added. I don't think I could have made a better decision on buying a car. Being a 22 year old sporty was a must. This car gets a lot of looks from others. The 4 cylinder has plenty of power for the every day driver and is especially quick in the higher rpm ranges. The auto stick makes it a true sports car in manual mode (you shift gears, just no clutch). The center console has all of your controls along with a lot of them also on the steering wheel (great idea). The absolute greatest part of this car is the ride quality. It handles like a sports car, but rides like a cadillac. Also the quietness of the interior is incredible. This car is a must have for anyone looking for a good size car with a sporty feel.

2005 Mazda 6 5 Door Hatchback
by hanleysdad ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: Zippiness, looks, comfort, price
Cons: Seat warmers inconsistent
This is the most fantastic car that I have ever owned!!!! I have over 2000 miles on the vehicle and it is phenomenal! The speed and pick up is amazing (it lives up to "zoom zoom"). The comfort of the seats and the ease of driving makes you feel really safe. This car really hugs the road (and the driver at the same time).

I initially was looking for a Nissan Altima. I had driven one as a rental when my van was in the shop. But, once I drove the 6, I was sold. The difference in price was substantial and the rebates and offers from Mazda only made it better.

I highly recommend this car! The only thing that I have found thus far that I wish they would change is that the seat warmers have only 1 setting (and they get very hot). Once the seat reaches a certain temperature, though, they turn off. They will come back on, but it makes for an uneven distribution of heat.
