Pros: Comfort, economy and safety are the cars strong points. Cons: It's as monotonous as one of Fidel Castro's six hour speeches.
6:30 A.M. and Im awake. This is far from routine for me but todays the second time in a month that I have to drop off the new Mercedes for service. For the second time, I was told to be there by 8 A.M. as well. Fahrvergnugen is wearing thin. ...

Pros: Decent looks, good transmission, great air conditioning Cons: Very poor handling and four cylinder engine, cheap plastic interior, bad resale value
Unless you've spent the last few years living on a deserted island with Gilligan and the Skipper, you've probably heard that GM has given Oldsmobile its walking papers. And after the 2004 model year, Olds is gone just like Plymouth was a few years back. ...

From a mom's point of view
by hoseid ,Nov 28 '04
Pros: spunky v6, just enough room for 2 kids, trunkspace w/folding backseat, smooth ride. Cons: no leg room leads to lumbar pain on trips
I bought this car after owning a Tacoma 4X4 that I adored. My family addition demanded it. I opted for the 3400 6 cylinder. She has spunk. She manuevers well when I need it. I have room for a carseat and my older son. The drawbacks are that the seats are just not that comfortable. This a woman's car, there's just no leg room for a man.

Olds Alero- Wouldn't mind owning one
by coacheswife ,Jun 02 '05
Pros: Great pick up Cons: Financing may be difficult due to discontinued production
My husband and I have looked at vehicles for probably the past 3 months. The Olds Alero was one of the biggies on our list. We liked the fact that they have a V-6 engine and also come standard with ABS system which is something that we really were leaning towards. The leg room in back really didn't look that bad. Also liked the split seat possibility for taking larger items in the vehicle. The major drawback right now is that financing becomes more difficult simply because the Alero is no longer going to be manufactured. The Alero we test drove did have the V-6 engine although I realize there are some that still have the 4 cylender engines. The Alero had a little more pick up from a stop to go situation than the Grand Am we ended up purchasing. The big decider was the financing issue dealing with hail damage on the Alero vs. no hail damage on the Grand Am. I wouldn't shy away from this car by any stretch of the immagination. Definately would consider purchasing one if we hadn't been financing.

Like a rock?
by recoilm1 ,Mar 09 '07
Pros: 2002 DOHC 2.2L kicks out 150HP w/32MPG matching many 2007 models. Cons: Front wheel bearing designed to fail, interior neglected while GrandAm twin got all the upgrades.
Tough as nails bought mine salvage and before that it was in 3 other accidents, nice driving buddy. Looks better than a lot of the corny rice burner want to be's '06 and 07 models. Love the 2007 model they had production ready but never bothered sticking a Chevy or Pontiac label on it... things like this is why GM is near bankrupt.

Factory Defective Lemon
by elacid ,Oct 06 '05
Pros: Looks nice on the outside Cons: Falls apart on the inside
If you want to know why they closed the line, it's because it was poorly crafted specifically the interior components that come apart only after a few years. If you own an alero now and the dashboard is wrinkling and GM won't fix it, visit www.cidstudios.com and leave me your name and get some pictures ready. I may be filing a lawsuit against them.
They abandoned the owners of these cars just like they did the product line, it's unacceptable the glue they used did not properly set or was defective and i've seen many owners with the exact same problem only after a few years. Mine is a 2002 Alero. They will not fix it, they don't care about YOU or the fact that you've invested money in something that will fall apart after a few years. Think about it- if GM is going to do that to people, I have no respect at all.
