2004 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport

by wilburlong , Oct 25 '03
Pros: Great mileage, easy to own, good value, AWD, ABS, good looking.
Cons: TERRIBLE sound system, cheap looking and very basic interior.
This is a review of the vehicle pictured, which is a Subaru Outback Impreza. It is a SMALLER version of the popular Outback wagon. I bought this car in June as a replacement for a small, gas-guzzling SUV that was giving me huge mechanical problems. ...

Subaru safety, performance, and affordability at their best

by MultimediaMan , Apr 09 '05
Pros: Safe, comfortable, sporty, fun to drive, fun to own
Cons: back seats crammed, stereo doesn't adjust to speed/noise, close gear ratios
When searching for my first car, one thing I was more concerned about than features in the car were the blindspots. Needless to say, first I thought a wagon was out of the question. The dealership however didn't have any of the 2.5rs sedans I was ...

Legacy Outback Wagon a Truly Fine Vehicle

by rbdancer , Nov 04 '06
Pros: Safety, reliability, AWD, creature comforts, power
Cons: Minor control quibbles; love-or-hate plastic body panels
This is the best vehicle I've ever owned, and that's going some. I've only had it for a short while, but I have already fallen in love with it and I suspect the bond will just get stronger with time and adverse weather conditions. I really didn't ...

2004 Subaru Outback Wagon - 35th Anniversary Ed.

by eoweik , Feb 26 '05
Pros: Very powerful, great handling, control and safety.
Cons: Slightly rough ride and seats that could be more soft.
First it should be noted that the car in the picture is the Impreza Wagon, not the Outback Wagon. The primary reason we decided to purchase this vehicle was because of its safety ratings. It is an extremely safe vehicle. The 35th Anniversary ...

Outback Limited 2004 Wagon

by moralb , Nov 06 '03
Pros: Very soft ride. Space, nice new colors, quality overall.
Cons: Body Roll, Wheel too thin, uncomfortable seats, looks changed
After having a 2002 std outback wagon (And loving it), these are my initial impressions. Softer, engine runs very well, the moon roof gives you amazing space. I like the change in Rims as well, the old gold color was not good taste. Nice touch the additio ...

Subaru Outback Legacy- LLBean interior>>UNBIASED

by kpgclark , May 20 '04
Pros: Size, leather interior, ONSTAR, all wheel drive, handles well in bad weather, heated seats
Cons: Poor city fuel efficiency, storage space, bucket seats, loud, confusing instrument panel
I purchased a new Subaru Outback Legacy after reading several media reviews and considering Consumer Reports. I bought the car mainly because it is supposed to handle well in bad weather and because it is supposed to be very safe. I have found both of ...

2003 Outback Report
by jay_from_colorado_dt3000 ,Jan 16 '05
Pros: Excellent performance in snow, ice and rain. ABS works great. Plenty of interior room.
Cons: Needs more "off the line" power.
I live in Colorado where the weather changes at a moments notice. The Subaru Outback has met all road condition challenges with ease. Heuberger Subaru in Colorado Springs has been very good to us every time we roll into their dealership.
The stock sound system isn't Bose but it's probably adequate for all but picky audiophiles. Gas mileage is good.
ISSUES: Wind noise from side view mirror area: FIXED
Parking/running lamp circuit blowing fuse repeatedly: Dealer is currently working to fix this.

Engine problem after only 3 moths
by arunas_p ,Mar 11 '04
Pros: hardly remember one now
Cons: very stiff suspension, mechanical problems
Only three months after buying a brand new R3.0 H6 Outback I had to return it back having an engine problem... Apparently, one of the 4 valves got stuck in a position so that it is being banged on whenever an engine is running. 3 weeks later the car is still grounded at the dealership, engine ripped apart and no estimated dates provided for it to be fixed. Have no luck contacting dealer, messages left not answered and no general feedback on what is going on. Who would expect such from Docklands Subaru in Melbourne, Australia.
I curse the day I decided to buy this car as there will apparently going to be other related problems.

AWD & ABS, great combination
by phwang73 ,Jan 02 '04
Pros: AWD, ABS, heated seats :-)
Cons: None I can think of
I bought the car for the AWD and ABS. I was going to buy the Legacy Wagon but after finding out it's only $1700 more, I opted for the Outback.

The day after bringing the car home, it snowed! Of course, I use my first opportunity to try out the safety features. The 2 features are great! Stopped real quick on snow covered road. Turned real great in same condition.

Needless to say, probably the best car I bought yet.

I will find out the MPG when I gas up today. Preliminary estimate is that I'm getting at least 20MPG, possibly 25MPG, with mixed Freeway, Highway, and City driving.

In Review: Subaru Outback Wagon 2004
by 2457 ,Sep 09 '03
Pros: Great fuel efficiency
Cons: Seats not very comfortable
This car is the best car ever. It helps get people where they are going and has efficient gas mileage to get people not only to their destination, but to their destination with more cash in their pocket. It is sleek and simple. Not fancy, but not a piece of junk.
