  • I'm not sure about the R, but is there an alternative to this car?

    Jan 21 '04
Pros: Handling, front seat comfort, cargo room, acceleration with manual
Cons: Rear seat comfort, acceleration soft with automatic, shifter and clutch with manual

Summary: I won’t buy a car without a manual transmission. But, with three kids, at some point I’m going to need a third row of seats. What to do? Currently there are only two alternatives, both of which are rarely equipped with manual transmissions on ... read more

  • Volvo V70 2.5T - I would buy another

    Aug 31 '07
Pros: MPG, front seat comfort, acceleration, cargo room
Cons: Rear seat comfort, turbo lag

Summary: I've had this car, new, since November of 2004, 45,000 miles. It's been very reliable - no mechanical problems. However, I've had two problems with the trim. 1) The front door gaskets keep on coming off. They've already been replaced twice. ... read more

Pros: Responsive Engine, Excellent climate controls.
Cons: Cheap interior, 15mpg, cramped, soccer mom feel, a bit too low to the ground.

Summary: I recently had the opportunity to drive a 2004 Volvo V70 for one week while my wife's 02 Explorer was in the body shop (after a toll booth bit her). Needless to say, I was happy about the prospect of driving anything other than a stripped Ford Taurus ... read more

  • The Next Grade of Volvo

    Jun 29 '04
Pros: Excellent power, luxury, and safety. All you could expect from the Volvo name.
Cons: No standout features to accelerate it into the highest luxury class.

Summary: The Volvo V70 clearly shows Volvo's intent to keep up with today's changing market, while maintaining their own history, personality, and morality. To begin, the Volvo V70 carries a huge engine supplying fuel injected 250+ horsepower while still ... read more

  • Amazing power, stability and interior space

    Jan 04 '04
Pros: Powerful, elegantly designed, ecologically friendly, and gas saving with ample interior space
Cons: Oversized headrests hamper full lateral visibility.

Summary: Volvo estimates 20 MPG city, 30 highway. They are dead accurate. We began by looking at a Toyota Prius. Admittedly, the V70 doesn't afford that remarkable mileage, but the Toyota salesman told us that the Prius 4x4, due out soon, is estimated to average ... read more
