Apply Vit. E At Bedtime
Nov 13 '00
I loved MSHooterville's epinion about taking care of your hands. Lots of good advice there. I wanted to add another helpful hint that works good for me. Before retiring at bedtime I take a Vitamin E pill and puncture it with a pin and put a few drops on my lips to keep them from drying out overnight and then spread the rest over my hands. If my hands feel exceptionally dry I puncture another Vitamin E pill and spread it over my hands. This works great and isn't really very costly either. I turn 65 tomorrow so obviously my hands will not look like a 40 year old's, but they do look good for my age. (NOTE: I use WebTV and cannot paragraph so I use dots.)...................................................................................................................................................Sculptured nails are another item that makes your hands look more graceful and youthful. I had them for years and shortly after retirement decided to forgo them to save money. After two years of trying to grow my own nails and failing miserably I finally gave in to the acrylics again. It doesn't have to break you up in business. There are many small salons, many of them run by Asians where a full set is as low as $25 and fills are only $15. The salon I use is located in WalMart. I figure I owe it to myself to splurge this amount each month on me. I feel better about myself and it's for sure that my jewelry (rings) show off better with the sculptured nails. Wearing a beautiful ring on hands with stubby fingers just doesn't compare. Luckily I am able to file my nails back two weeks after having them filled so I can wait a month before needing another fill. I don't keep them so long that they really look artificial and I always wear a neutral nail polish, preferably OPI's Innsbruck Bronze that goes with everything. ........................................................................................................................................................On a similar note. Dry rough feet can be very irritating. My solution for that is to keep a good foot massage lotion handy in the den by my TV chair. Several times throughout the evening I lather my feet with the lotion and since doing this have not been bothered with dry, rough feet.
