Mixing Classic & Trendy Works Well

I find that I do tend to go back to the basics I have always relied upon when I am applying my makeup. However, as an admitted Make-up Junkie, I am also a big fan of the "newest" colors and techniques. I love to look in magazines and see how the make up is applied to the models, and get ideas for how to try new makeup styles and techniques.
I find myself constantly drawn to makeup that has a shiny or sparkly appearance to it. I find that it can give a very light and fun feeling to the look of my make-up. I just recently purchased this great sparkly stuff from Lancome. It is called "Micro-Paillettes sparkling touch glitter", It sells for $15.00 at any Lancome counter (I bought mine in Macy's). This is described on the Lancome website as "Ultra-fine fairy dust", and that is a very accurate description. It is very fine powdery glitter that is very silvery, and blue. It looks great near the eyes, or on the cheeks. I wore tons of it on Halloween this year, I was dressed as a fairy princess. :)
I think that while The classic approach to applying makeup is good, that I need to spark it up with a bit of trendy stuff. I feel great when I try out a new look, even a different colored lip stick can do wonders, make me feel like a new person. And if you think about the average cost of $10.00 for a new lipstick, versus the therapy it would require to get a good feeling about yourself, I will stick with the lip-stick (no pun intended!)

So, my advice and opinion is: Don't be afraid to add a little bit of trendy in with your usual style, It can't hurt.
