How to cure dry, cracked feet

If you're serious about cleaning up those feet, you'll need to expend some (minimal) time and effort. Before you begin, make sure you have the following on hand (no pun intended):

White cotton ankle socks (at least 2 pair; more if you won't wash them for awhile)

A foot pumice (a stone tends to work better than a file; Bath and Body Works sells terra cotta foot stones with handles -- I've had mine for 3 years and it still works like it's brand new)

Peppermint foot wash gel -- ones with scrub granules are particularly nice

A regular lotion (for feet or otherwise) for daytime (preferably after the shower)

A heavy-duty cream for feet -- I used both Neutrogena Hand Lotion (super concentrated) and Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Cream (it smells HEAVENLY)

Both morning and night, use the foot pumice with the peppermint foot wash gel to rid feet of dead skin and invigorate them. The less wear and tear they feel, the slower you'll see callouses build. Sounds kind of flaky, but when my podiatrist told me that I didn't believe him either.

Dry every crevice of your feet after the shower, then apply a thin layer of lotion, massaging the problem areas specifically. Then, apply clean socks while you get ready in order to let the lotion absorb (that way you won't feel it in your nylons or loafers later in the day.)

At night, scrub the feet again and before bed (or earlier, if you don't mind "squishy" feet) rub a heavy-duty cream into your feet (again, paying particular attention to problem areas like the heel) and put the white cotton socks on. The socks work to trap warmth and allow the cream to penetrate deeper and longer.

In the morning, begin the cycle again. You'll see improvement almost immediately, but real results will appear in one to two weeks. After your feet have attained the maximum beauty, this regimen once or twice a week should keep them in shape.
