One of the biggest things I have learned in the past few years is to pamper yourself! I am a nail tech and I know first hand that taking care of your feet is a priority. After all, they get you where you have to go! A monthly pedicure is a must for me. A competent manicurist will be able to remove dead and calloused skin which is what causes cracks and pain, especially on your heels! Your tech will be able to explain the things that you need to do at home to maintain healthy feet. Not only does a pedicure pamper you it also makes your feet beautiful and presentable. Those of you that are reading this that are on your feet all day, give it a try. Along with grooming the toenails and skin on the heels, you will receive a relaxing massage of your feet and all the way up to your knees. Not only is this pampering, but therapy you and your feet!

Maintenance at home is a must. A good creme or emollient generously applied to the feet at bedtime is essential for absorption. Lotions high is alcohol are generally less desirable because the alcohol tends to evaporate rather quickly thus drying the skin. Cuticle oil applied to the toenails is also a plus. Vitamin E capsules broken open and applied to the toenails is an excellent example of such. Take time to take care of yourself. After all, wouldn't you rather see nice smooth feet in sandals than dry cracked flaky ones??
